Regarding the Bloomington TRAFFIC STUDY; response to Beth Rosenbarger's comments regarding crashes and personal injury accidents at the recent Plan Commission meeting: Isn't it possible, the most crashes and personal injuries recorded in Bloomington happen on these one-way streets (Walnut & College and 3rd St. & Atwater), simply because they are the closest thing we currently have to city thoroughfares? I suspect these four streets/avenues are the mostly highly traveled each and every day, thus it is logical there will be more crashes where there is consistently more traffic! The frustration brought on by sitting/waiting in traffic behind busses and delivery vehicles, with no way around them on a two-way street, will most likely lead to crashes and personal injury, as well. Two-way streets are unlikely to result in fewer accidents and injuries. In fact, it may force traffic onto more side streets resulting in more injuries on side streets, as well.

The 4 way stop at E. Allendale and Dunstan Dr in Sherwood oaks is a huge concern. A traffic report has been done. Many cars a day use this route as a cut through and many cars drive too fast and don't stop at this stop sign. This is also a school bus stop and city bus stop. I live at this corner and witness frist hand every day the number of cars that run this stop sign. I'd like to request speed bumps be installed along Allendale to keep the speed limit regulated.

temporary speed bumps were placed in Broadview neighborhood during the intersection closure of Tapp/Country Club and Rockport. These speed bumps should be removed as they were temporary and the newly improved intersection is open.

When work was being done on Tapp and Rockport, temporary sets of speed bumps were put in on Adams Hill Circle and Countryside lane. Every morning when I drive to work I travel Adams Hill Circle to Countryside to Rockport and go over 5 sets of speed bumps, and I go over the same 5 sets on the way back home. The temporary speed bumps are no longer needed since the construction at Tapp and Rockport is complete. I would argue they are no longer needed at all, but if members of the community still want some, please remove at minimum 3 out of these 5 speed bumps on this route; they are excessive.

Speed on West Allen Street is absurd. I have lived on street since 2017 and there are a lot of little children and pets along there. Have witnessed two pretty bad accidents there in last three months. Please considered either reducing speed or another method of curbing danger. Thank you!!

We have seen increased instances of deer being hit by cars behind our home (1519 Bradshire) at Winslow and S. Xavier Ct. in the last year and would like signage posted to alert drivers that there is a wildlife hazard. We commonly observe afternoon eastbound drivers failing to stop at the stop sign at Winslow and Allendale and speeding down the hill toward Xavier Ct. where they regularly encounter wildlife. The greenway just east of Xavier Ct. is a common crossing point for deer, coyotes, foxes and other wildlife. For the protection of the drivers, the many children who live in the area, and the wildlife, we request that signage be posted. We would also be glad to see increased monitoring of the stop sign at Winslow and Allendale. Thank you.

He said that traffic has backed him up for 30+ minutes and had he known this street was under construction, he would not have taken it. Ever since the city created the bike lane on east seventh street between Walnut and the University the street has become a drag strip. Stop signs were taken away and people are traveling at excessive speeds. The condition has become exacerbated by an increase flow of bike traffic at various times of day. A person traveling north on Lincoln to safely cross must now watch the high speed vehicle traffic, the pedestrian traffic as well as the bike traffic. Visually it is a very difficult task to take in all of the information at the same time and the problem is that it is difficult to take in the bike lane when you are looking across the street at the pedestrian and high speed traffic. Bikers heading east come over the hill from Walnut and accelerate into the intersection. The curbs are extremely high and one cannot enter seventh street from Grant heading west without turning into the oncoming traffic lane or hitting the curb and damaging tires. On Monday I approached Seventh and Lincoln from the south around five o’clock pm. There was so much activity I missed a biker traveling west. I missed the person because there was simply too much to watch. Yesterday I made the decision to stop crossing Seventh St altogether because it was just too dangerous. I took a route that brought me from the west into the intersection. The city has now placed crosswalks without any warning signs of change all around the university and now pedestrians are no longer waiting for traffic to clear before attempting to cross and are now entering the crosswalks into the traffic flowing east and west with the expectation that it will stop, effectively a stop without a stop time. As I approached from the west to turn north onto Lincoln the east and westbound traffic had completely stopped for the cross walkers. Five persons on scooters zoomed into the intersection from south Lincoln and crossed through the stopped traffic. A six scooter, a straggler followed, suit entering right at the point when it had appeared to have cleared. These people should have been governed like the rest of cross traffic but instead acted effectively as pedestrians. Obviously no one was looking for them and they were traveling at a speed closer to a car than a pedestrian or biker. A dangerous situation has now been worsened by an intervention. We have spoken to the police officers in the neighborhood and obviously they cannot conceivably be there to do the work that traffic sign regulation had accomplished effectively for years. I can no longer move directly in my neighborhood because it is simply too dangerous. I am going out of my way to avoid the dangers and still cannot do that safely because of the chaos. We are going to see a scooter death or a bicyclist death if something is not done to prevent it. At least the City will be on notice when the lawsuit follows.

Why isn’t the speed bumps painted in a yellow or some time of color, so we aren’t tearing our cars up just going the speed limit? Please paint them. They blend in with the road.
