Hi There I'm normally not one to complain, especially about a city in which I love and have been apart of since I was a small child. However, the traffic situation on west 3rd street, primarily on the overpass of 37, has reached a point that is nonsensical. This morning, 3/20/2018, the overpass was down to one lane while no one was working on it. It took me 35 minutes to drive .2 miles and caused me to be late to work. I'm all for keeping the infrastructure of this city up to date, but when it takes me 35 minutes to drive a 1000 feet for no legitimate reason, that's when I have a problem. They have been working on the bridge for what seems like 6 months now without much improvement. I hope to see some improvement soon. Sincerely, Greg Lovig

Every morning I travel from the west side of Bloomington to the east side and notice numerous drivers disobeying the traffic sings posted at the intersection of Curry and IN 46. There are 4 arrows, 2 for turning left and 2 for turning right, there are 2 signs posted for the right turns that states, NO TURN ON RED. However, every morning at least 1 person still insists on turning right on the red arrow. Today it was 1 person, yesterday it was 4 drivers. They are turning on red regardless which lane they are in. If we are going to allow the turn on red then please remove the sign. If no one should be turning on the red arrow then maybe the sign needs changed to say right turn on green arrow or police need to start giving out tickets. It is unsafe to allow drivers to make up their own rules.

Hello, There are two abandoned vehicles in the Parking lot of Willowbrook Apartments. A Honda Coupe with no plate. All tires are flat and the vehicle has not moved in over 6 months. A Mitsubishi Galant with the license plate, “824LQT”. The plate expired in 2015. This vehicle has also not moved in over 6 months.

Hello, My name is Andrew Goodale and I am the manager of the Verizon store on West Third Street in Bloomington. I am writing in regards to the road maintenance and related traffic issues that exist around our store. Maintenance on the Third Street overpass is severely affecting our business and store traffic to the negative. Because Third Street has been reduced to a single eastbound lane in front of our store, customers are not able to access our place of business. Our entrance is consistently blocked off with a line of traffic, and even during the rare times when it is clear, people do not think they can turn into our parking lot because of all the street pylons blocking off our entrance. Further, this same issue also causes traffic to back up on Liberty road which often simultaneously blocks off our rear entrance. This traffic double-whammy is killing our business and noticeably affecting the paychecks of your Bloomington residents that work here. Because there is a Bus Stop right in front of our store, this lane merging is also creating a safety hazard for bystanders and pedestrians in the area, including my employees. Just the other day we witnessed a City Bus hit one of your sawhorse barricades and it got caught underneath the bus. We watched the driver get out, unsuccessfully try to remove the sign, and continue driving with it caught under the bus, dragging it along as they drove on the sidewalk and hopped the curb turning from Third onto Liberty. I would like to be informed what will be done by Bloomington in order to stop stunting our business and creating a safety hazard outside of our store due to construction related traffic signs and patterns. I also need to know when this construction project will be complete, and what is being done to make sure that deadline is met or exceeded. I have uploaded a photo of the typical traffic situation in front of our store, and can provide photos and video of the incident with the bus. Please advise, Andrew Goodale

Construction is ridiculous. You have every street tore up and the traffic lights are not letting traffic get through properly! Why not do one street at a time. Enough is enough! And stop bringing more people in!

On Vernal Pike heading east in to the City, there is a significant speed limit change once you reach Cresent Road. There is a reader board that alerts you to the speed limit change, but it is located essentially right at the zone change itself. This is setting up a dangerous situation, especially in regards to school bus traffic and children entering/exiting buses. Vehicles are going very fast and suddenly the speed limit changes very fast (from 40 mph to 20 mph). Can the reader board sign please be moved about 500' west (prior to entering bridge)? If not, can another warning sign or signal of some type be installed to give drivers an advanced warning of the speed limit change? This will really help with the safety of this situation. Thank you very much.

Trying to travel anywhere on the South side is deplorable. Finish a project before you close down more roads. There is no one working on W Gordon Pike anymore and you started E Rhorer. Then you have Country Club shut down and just put up signs that Grimes is going to be closing soon. What the hell? This is a shit show. You are making it impossible to travel from East to West and causing MASSIVE traffic backups. Please finish Country Club or Gordon before you close down Grimes too. Did you even bother to stop and think these decisions through? If so I would like to know who in what world decided all these closures was a good idea, on top of Tapp being closed and 37 being worked on, let alone other projects in Bloomington.

I live on the southwest side of Bloomington, off of Tapp Road west of 37. I know you are aware of the traffic trials we have had and continue to have. 2nd St & 3rd St are severely restricted and consistently backed up, even at off times. Tapp Rd has been closed forever, and if you try to access the south side via Fullerton Pike, Country Club is closed AND now Gordon/Rhorer is shut down by Kroger. So you have to drive way out of the way no matter where you go, and everyone else is pushed that way too. We've all been driving twice as far, and twice as long EVERY TIME we go anywhere. Will we be receiving credits for our gas and wear and tear? No. ALL THAT BEING SAID, now you are going to shut down the eastbound lane of Grimes between Walnut and Rogers!? So 2nd street and 3rd street and Country Club and South Walnut/Gordon Pike are all severely restricted or closed and the city is shutting down another east/west road? I'm sorry to be so harsh, but it feels like you're just giving us the middle finger now. This would never happen on the other side of town and it's not okay. At least wait until Country Club is open. I understand that projects SOMETIMES overlap. Not all of them at the same time in the same location. So it was poorly planned without a contingency plan other than "deal with it". If it's a cost issue, think of all the extra tax money that has been received due to the extra gas and repairs we've purchased. If the city cares at all about west-siders, please don't shut down Grimes until Country Club is open. It's bad enough that as soon as Country Club opens, the Rockport/Tapp intersection will be closed and we'll have to cut through the neighborhoods there. Please, start/finish a project in some other part of the city. I know that the "you" in my message is not the you who first reads this, but I really hope you will pass it along to those who make the decisions- those who obviously don't live on the SW side of town. Thank you very much.

There is an intersection on 3rd Street and South Park Ridge Road that is extremely dangerous. I had a friend get in an accident today making a left out of South Park Ridge Rd. onto 3rd street. Thankfully, no one was injured, however, both cars were totaled. This is the second person I know from my apartment complex that has gotten hit making that same left turn. I, myself, have almost gotten hit there. Upon speaking to the police officer at the scene today, I discovered that there have been numerous accidents at that intersection. There needs to be a traffic light there, or at least a blinking yellow since the speed limit raises to 40 a light before. I hope that other people have complained about this and that this complaint isn't taken lightly. The safety of the many students and permanent residents of Bloomington are more important than the flow of traffic.

The choice to perform all of this traffic now was poorly made. If the city knew that I-69 was going to be built over 3-4 years ago, why did they not string all of these projects out over that time frame? Who is responsible?
