I have repeatedly asked my neighbors at 717 S. Park Ave. not to block the alley with their cars. They continue to do so as illustrated in the attached photo, taken 8/30 at about 11:30am. The alley was blocked much of yesterday 8/29 as well.
Not sure why #177138 was closed. Nothing has changed. Cars still blocking the street, still blocking the ramp and still blocking the fire hydrant.
There is a recurring problem at this intersection. Drivers heading west on 3rdSt/46 and turning south onto College Mall Rd routinely block the eastbound traffic on 3rd St by blocking the intersection after their turn light turns red. Tonight the intersection was blocked for the eastbound traffics entire green light. The Do Not Block the Intersection signs go unnoticed or unheeded. I’ve contacted the Mayors office before and my complaint was forwarded to someone who couldn’t/wouldn’t do anything to address the problem. I’ve contacted the Police Department who said it wasn’t a priority and they didn’t have the manpower to do anything even if it was a priority. My suggestion is to make the Do Not Block the Intersection signs more noticeable and to shorten the duration of the left turn signal for those turning south onto College Mall Rd from the westbound 3rd St lanes. Private apartment company buses are stopping dead center on teh crosswalk to unload, wait, and load passengers. It blocks traffic. IU and city buses go up the block and use the pull off to do the same. Tell the private buses not to block the road. There are simply too many of them. Their passengers can walk the 100 feet just like normal people do. (it sits there 30 seconds to unload and load. Take that times 8 complexes and two runs an hour and you now have 8 minutes of 60 minutes blocked to traffic. It is already a bottle neck. This makes it much worse for no gain.
N North street is a dead end road. The end of the road has taken over the turn around and the little road that was started and on Google maps, turning left. Behind that's black and white truck is where the road should be but there is a demo derby car sitting on a trailer there . It has been moved up and down the road and placed in different spots but this is where it is sitting now . There have been several other junk cars that sit there too . They have filled this property and the whole street with scrap metal, junk cars, doors, motors, broken lawnmowers and such. This has created an issue with the sanitation department not wanting to come down the street to gather trash and recycling and the City Post Office does not feel comfortable coming down this road because they have to back out. If this property was properly maintained there would be a turnaround and an additional Side Road. The squatters that are there have taken over everything and put a no trespassing sign up so that people can't even (right side of photo) turn around down there. My address is 656 N North st. Please help clean this area up. My family is new to this street and have already called HAND and the fire chief. It is a dangerous situation if someone were to need a fire truck or ambulance. The main street is still not marked properly also. The intersection of Fountain and gray is waiting for a street sign. My concern with that is my mother will need an ambulance and ambulance will not be able to find the address.

I understand that much of the street and yard work done is not by City staff members, but there should be some sort of oversight to ensure resident rights when street/easement/public utility efforts are underway. Our yard at 4021 E. Morningside is routinely deconstructed with no notice given and often damages left behind. Today our driveway was blocked off (still is) by a Green Ram truck with a Vermeer tanker, with a hole dug in the middle of our driveway exit. Our family works and has to enter and exit the drive throughout the day. One of the most important events of the past 7 years is happening tonight that we need to get to. We are making backup plans on an alternative way to go there, but to receive zero communication when we are to have no vehicular use for the day is something that needs to change. If the City has any jurisdiction over the permits given to these companies, they need to start requiring true resident notice and respect for property. And apparently the workers of 186081 uReport have now blown up a water line in my front yard, as a neighbor sent me a picture of a geyser taller than my house. Great, just great. I'll survey for damages when home, which appear likely, but CBU is on-scene I am told. There needs to be additional accountability for the constant stream of contractors and their subcontractors constantly on property in recent years, with many contractors simply pushing blame that it wasn't "them" but their subs. This same group was using my side yard to store plastic recently, not part of any easement.
18601/18604. Quick follow-up. I appreciate CBU getting things taken care of, and to my knowledge they were not involved in the cause of the initial break. They had to cut out some of my driveway and dig up a bit of yard, but I am trusting they'll get things taken care of and repaired. Staff was courteous in explaining the situation and is still outside hard at work. Hopefully we all get some sleep later tonight.
