From Elm Heights listserve emails:
The dog you are describing belongs to the people in the red house there on Southdowns in the block between Manor and Hawthorne. I saw the woman let the dog out, which she does every day. Then it runs all over the neighborhood, stops traffic, interferes with and barks at other dogs, and craps wherever it wants. I called animal control, but she took it in before they got there. A bad situation for the dog and all the rest of us.

A fairly calm older dog that seems to be part German Shepherd (but ears were not upright) is wandering around on Southdowns now (I saw her at 8:10 a.m.), 1200 block approx., a female I think. It's wearing an old cloth collar but no tags. I didn't get a photo, and a dog walker seems to have called someone (shelter? vet?), may have gone back looking for her after taking his own dog home. I didn't have a leash and couldn't capture her, and this other walker may have done so, but in case he doesn't notify the ListServe, I'm letting folks know...the dog was calmly exploring lawns, went into some of the dead-ends off Southdowns... -- Beau Vallance

I have an animal stuck in the dryer vent. Do you have any ideas on how to take care of this?

my dog was attacked by my neighbor's loose husky three times in a long block while they were unable to catch or restrain the dog. I believe this dog to be dangerous and aggressive, and I do not believe it should be off leash at any time. I am a cancer patient and do not have the power to fight off an aggressive animal, and do not believe I should have to stop walking in my neighborhood to accommodate this animal. I complained by letter to the owners immediately after the incident (I have oral cancer and I can not speak). They told me the dog is not aggressive, so clearly, they do not understand my point of view, and doubtless, do not intend to keep the animal restrained. Please contact me by email for the address, thank you for your assistance.

The following complaint was also sent to the city for the trash issue. I am sending it to you about the animal issues mentioned.
Thank you

The houses listed above continually have a buildup of trash in their yard.
614 West Allen
The yard looks like a junk yard.
The continuous supply of trash lying around has attracted pests and dogs to dig in to it. So garbage gets all over the neighborhood. One of the pests that the trash is attracting is skunks. My dog has been sprayed once and I have had a few close calls. This past Saturday a pit bull came out of a large pile of trash and kept barking at me and my infant soon trying to defend his treasure.
This is my second complaint about trash in this neighborhood (the first time was just about 702). I wish to stay anonymous about my complaints so I don’t make enemies out of my neighbors, especially the ones that own their houses. So please help me resolve this problem.
Thank you,
Eric Brown
