We were at Olcott Park on Sunday, Nov. 24. The foam/rubber covering on the ground of the playground has gotten very loose and lumpy, which is dangerous because little kids (and adults) trip on the lumps.

Sign not properly planted into the ground at the skatepark. It's barely into the earth with no apparent concrete footer underneath. I don't know if someone fell against it or if it was the insane winds the other day that pushed it back like this.

During rain, the surrounding mud and grime around the skatepark at the new Switchyard park drains into the park itself since there is no finished edgings. I don't know what sort of timeline the construction crews have on getting to this, but I just wanted to point out how bad it gets. Some friends had to get wet and dirty in order to unclog one of the drains and get the water out from the park. We had to get our own brooms out to clean this up later on after it had dried. I understand it's cold season and there may not be anything to be done, but I feel like it needs pointed out. The skatepark itself is wonderful, but the work around it has been poorly taken care of. Pictures of the area that pools and how mud ends up draining into the park from two spots on the north side of the skatepark are in this shared album. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uXgmpwQefXXzfAV56 Thank you!

Drainage from the football field covers the path from Olcott Park to JCMS with water (even after days with no rain). The water turns to ice when the temperature drops. Dozens of school children and community members use the path daily. I’ve seen school children slip and fall hard on their way to school. In past years the path is not adequately able to be maintained to remove the ice...the ice gets so thick that a general maintenance crew would not be able to remove it once it has formed. This path is often skipped by snow removal efforts (not sure if it’s City or MCCSC). Please consider a way to redirect this flow before someone gets seriously hurt. Thank you.

I tried opening a ticket a few days ago about the need for a trashcan at the Switchyard Skate Park, but I apparently should not have put it under the ticket that relates to trash, as it simply got redirected to three different people and was then responded with a generic HAND response. This is city property. There is already trash beginning to pile up, and a lot of it is blowing around the construction. Please bring in a trash can. I would likely also be the one who will walk around and pick up the trash to put it in the bin.

I walk my dog at Winslow Sports Complex early in the morning and the lights have been on recently due to repair work (I like having the lights on while walking my dog). Will they still be on moving forward? Please let me know, thank you.

I forgot to report this a week ago. A picnic table from the Woodlawn Shelter was out in the park. Walk west north west from the Woodlawn Shelter and you'll see it.

Hi, I contacted the city a few weeks ago regarding the status of Park Ridge Park and the materials on areas around the park and shelter in that park. In that note, I suggested cleaning up the debris in the park so as to prevent having to mitigate the problems caused by leaving them over the winter. The past two years, erosion mitigation was done on the park and it occurred to me that if the debris were removed, their would be less work in the spring to get the park back to the way it was at the beginning of fall. That suggestion was passed on to Dave Williams and I have not yet heard anything back from the parks department. I would like to know what the plans are for park with regards to debris removal. I am concerned now that since the true winter has begun and the city leaf removal is over, the debris will now remain in place all winter, hopefully to be removed soon enough in the spring such that only minimal work will have to be done in the spring. Perhaps if I had none that Parks would not be able to handle the debris removal, we could have organized a neighborhood effort to take care of the problem but it seems like that time has passed. To be clear, I really appreciate the responsiveness the Parks Department has had to suggestions and concerns about the Park Ridge Park and no doubt all the other parks. The erosion mitigation efforts conducted over the last two years did have a very positive effect and the park, the neighborhood and the city are all better for them. I am sure that something will get worked out this time as well and look forward to hearing what the plan is going forward for our wonderful, small and highly shaded park. Thank you.
