We are having problems with scooters driving on the sidewalk, we would like this parking area removed, it takes valuable space for store sandwich signs (businesses are already struggling) and encourages sidewalk use of scooters. Thank you,
Can the sidewalk at xxx East 7th Street be shaved down to eliminate the height difference between the two adjoining slabs? See photo attached. This height difference can be dangerous for westbound cyclists riding on the sidewalk who need to negotiate both a quick right turn and a left turn to enter the SR46 underpass. Now that an asphalt multi-use path has been built at Relato Bloomington at the intersection of Pete Ellis Drive and Longview Avenue, westbound cyclists are more apt to ride on the path/sidewalk vs. the street, and will continue to ride on the sidewalk all the way to the underpass. Cyclists will be going at speed since it is downhill westbound. To negotiate this sidewalk height disparity, while at the same time negotiating a sweeping turn, poses a dangerous situation that can be easily eliminated.
Ridgefield IV neighborhood Bob Shaw is the developer. Bob tore out sidewalks august 2022 without city’s permission. Almost 2 yrs later and still no sidewalks. 3 residents with disabilities(one uses a scooter) along with multiple children in neighborhood. We need accessible sidewalks and for the city to go after Bob Shaw!
Hello, I am writing to inquire about whether the sidewalk on the east side of S. Jackson St. between 3rd and 4th streets can be repaired. As a person with a visual impairment, I have a terrible time walking on the sidewalk in this location, which is in the block where my house is. The sidewalk is very uneven, with tripping hazards throughout its course due to decay. If I didn't have a visual impairment, it would certainly be easier to walk on this part of the sidewalk, but I know that others with no visual impairment also have a difficult time because of the deteriorated surface. leaving the City Hall parking lot by the SW ramp to the B-line (just south of the fence), there is a heave of sidewalk on the ramp, demonstrated in the attached pictures. It is significant enough to cause a County Commissioner to fall on Friday and create an avulsion fracture of her finger! (I cannot tell if the photos loaded, so you may have double copies.)
Curb has sunk about 6 inches below road pavement creating deep hole. Caused by broken connection to sewer pipe on city property. City supposedly repaired the leak over a year ago, but area is still sinking to the point that ground level is now below the pavement and still sinking.
On 100 S. Grant, could the city fix the sidewalk here at the entrance at the alley? Past construction has ruined this sidewalk.
I'm not sure if this is the proper way to report this, but there is a very dangerous crosswalk where I've almost been hit multiple times and I have seen the same thing with other pedestrians. The problem is when crossing from the NE corner of 10th and Walnut to the NW corner. The problems result from the fact that 1) the crosswalk is obscured from view for drivers on 10th coming from the East and 2) the stop line for those drivers is back from the intersection to allow for trucking turning E on 10th from Walnut. The result is that pedestrians start to cross on the walk signal but the drivers turning right from 10th have a bit of speed by the time they can even see anyone in the crosswalk and frequently can't stop in time when they come upon a walker. The only real safe way to navigate that crosswalk as a pedestrian is to just not use the actual crosswalk (eg. stay way to the left almost in the lane of traffic so you are even seen). If you try crossing there at 5pm any day of the week, you will immediately see what I'm talking about. ;) I'm not sure what the solution is but I just know it is very dangerous. At a bare minimum, I would suggest removing the bush at the NE corner to increase visibility but even then the layout of that corner is dangerous so perhaps someone can take a look and see if anything can be done? There is a couple living in this camper, you can even see the cable connecting power to the house right next to ours, not sure of address. The owner of the home it’s parked in front of has no idea what’s happening or if they are going to be there for an extended period of time.
