People are living in the park again. There is a tent like structure blocking the stairs.
There is a homeless camp. I'm behind wheeler that goes up behind almost to the gas station up on 3rd. Several individuals camping back there. It's the same camp that was taken down last year is being rebuilt. Individuals are disturbing the peaceful enjoyment of the residents of the area. They harass the residents. Also having a lot of issues with petty theft in the area because of them.
Homeless have set up camp with mattresses in the open on S Henderson St. Right across the street from Crawford, next to the bus stop
Please do something about the homeless in and around the library. A resource officer can easily make sure they aren't bathing and congregating in bathrooms. I grew up in Bloomington and love it...but issues need to be addressed. This being a major one. The library should be a safe space. Thank you.
There is a homeless camp developing in the woods on North Summit Street, between W 11th St and W Cottage Grove Ave. We live right next door on W Cottage Grove Ave. There are mountains of trash accumulating, used syringes on the ground, broken glass, yelling and screaming at all hours of the day and night, people loitering in the middle of the street so people can't get through, people changing in the street, broken glass, and numerous inoperable vehicles taking up the entire street that some are living in, in addition to the tents. I understand this may be private property, but given that we got a fine simply for our trash bin accidentally being outside an extra day, there has to be something that can be done. We will continue to report it and report it until it is handled effectively. I do not feel safe or comfortable going to and from my house or walking my dogs, and there are several children that live in this vicinity. The Boys and Girls Club and Middle School are right down the road. I know the homeless issue is rampant in Bloomington and there were two recent homeless campsite evictions. In the news, one of the homeless men interviewed said they were just going to move further down the B-Line. Well, here they are. This isn't safe or sanitary and is disturbing the peace of mind of the hardworking individuals who actually live here.
Homeless are setting up camp between Crawford Apartments and Timber Ridge
We have people living in tents on CITY property on the southwest corner of Rogers and 11th St. We have over 10 female employees working for us at 611 W 11th Street. We would hate for any of them to have ANY issues with people living on CITY property. Please help these people to relocate to a place where they may receive the services Bloomington may provide. Thank you for your time and efforts.
Hi there, I have noticed a large increase in homeless activity in Bloomington this year. In the past, homeless individuals have largely remained in Seminary Park. Now, I see them camped in the park by Hartzell’s on Kirkwood, up by the square further north on Walnut, and even in Bryan Park. Homelessness is a complex problem and individuals in this situation face unfathomable challenges, but many of my peers and I feel their presence in social areas of Bloomington has negatively impacted the safety and cleanliness of the city. Just yesterday, I witnessed a homeless man harass a girl sitting in Brother’s Bar and Grill by slapping the window as if he was slapping her bottom through the window. It made me feel unsafe in my Bloomington home. Similarly, the park near Hartzell’s on Kirkwood is no longer an inviting place to eat ice cream with friends due to the mess left by homeless populations in this area. I am so sorry for their situation and challenges they face, but I do not want the homeless epidemic to impact the value and vibrance of the many lovely green spaces in Bloomington. For these reasons, I wanted to express my concerns about the spread of homelessness in Bloomington this past year and implore you to seek solutions for the issue. I am not an expert in social services or rehabilitation, so I am not sure if there are solutions to this problem, but I hope the city of Bloomington will take my concerns to heart to both help the homeless and improve the safety and well-being of Bloomington. Thank you
There are people doing drugs and sleeping in the mini barn in back of the empty house. I’m afraid and the police wouldn’t come out because I don’t own the property.
