There used to be No Tresspassing signs here after more people started going out on trails during the lockdown. Many people still think it’s part of the park. Few city people know the purple paint means the same thing. Owners of both sides of the property line must agree to use paint instead of signs. Did the city really agree to this? One guy on the path down from Olcott thought the paint marked the BHSS cross country course. If he really wants to keep people out he needs to invest in maintaining real signage or fencing.

Hello! First, thank you for being one an absolutely cherished and wonderful part of our city. Parks and Rec does such great work! On the Jackson Creek Trail between Sherwood Oaks Park and Olcott Park, just past the bridge as you head up the hill on the way to Olcott Park, there is a Sycamore Tree leaning over the path, and a smaller tree has fallen and is leaning on the Sycamore. Would you mind having Urban Forestry check that out please? There are so many people who use that path between the parks. Thank you so much for all that you do! Sincerely, Bronwyn Shroyer

Graffiti on rocks and under overpass. Between July 5 and July 8, 4 or 5 very large rocks on the edge of the creek have been sprayed with bright pink and blue paint: FUCK something, cross HMC, and other marks. This can be seen by starting at the small parking lot off Moore's Pike (East of Tennis Courts) on the paved Trail. The large rocks are about half way to the overpass on the creek bank at one of the prettiest spots on the creek. This is farther east than the small bridge that leads up to Southeast Park playground. The black and blue (?) painting on the underpass has been there for at least a week - in black: FUCK BPD among other things. I think there is something new since 7/5 above the entrance to the underpass that includes MOE.

Kudos to the city arborist who chose native trees to plant in the easement along the S High St trail project. The Yellowwoods and Eastern Redbuds will provide a nice "cream and crimson" display in the years they bloom in sync in spring. I do have to ask if the Yellowwoods are the right type of street tree to be planted 15ft from a busy street, given it's broad / round habit and potential to have multiple central leaders. Tree-bush?

The dump under the bridge entering/exiting The Switchyard park is absolutely a disgrace! Enforce the laws on the books! This town is in the middle of a homeless drug addiction plague. on a daily bases i'm seeing more and more people walking around the downtown area with suitcases all leaving or heading towards the shalom center. This needs to stop! Private citizens are having to take defensive measures (fencing around their business) in their own hands and money because this woke mayor is pandering to these lawless people that don't pay taxes. We are the ones paying the taxes it's time to represent the Bloomington tax payer.

There are pieces of glass on a portion of Trail 2 at Griffy Lake. I attached a screenshot of the AllTrails map and highlighted the portion of the trail where we noticed it. It feels oddly intentional… there are at least three different types of glass (green, brown, and clear), all pieces are all relatively small, and they are spread out pretty evenly. I unfortunately did not take a picture of any of the glass. I also did not continue on that portion of the trail to know if the issue is more extensive.

Gordon Pk & Rogers St, Perry Township, IN 47403, USA

Case Date:

There's a person riding a gasoline powered motorcycle or bicycle or similar contraption up and down the Rail Trail just about daily lately. It's very loud and goes too fast for a pedestrian and multi-use trail. I've seen it numerous times between Gordon Pike and Country Club on the rail trail. Just one of the many problems and dangers the city allows to continue on the trail since the homeless camps on city property on the trail have swelled in size. Those camps need to be cleared out immediately for the safety of all trail users.

Gordon Pk & Rogers St, Perry Township, IN 47403, USA

Case Date:
3/30/2024

Around 3pm on Friday, March 29, 2024, a vehicle was parked on the gravel road parallel to the Rail Trail north of Gordon Pike. A little bit later, passing by again, there were homeless people unloading items from the car it appeared. This car would have had to drive on the multi-use path along Gordon Pike to get onto the gravel road. As of 8am 3/30/24, the vehicle is still parked at the homeless camp. The City needs to do something about these camps. There are gasoline powered bikes traveling the Rail Trail and gravel road with little regard for pedestrians, tons of trash from Gordon Pike to Country Club Drive, and now free parking at the camp sites. The problems started when the homeless moved south and it is getting worse by the week. This is on City-owned property. This makes the Rail Trail less safe for everyone. Clear the camps out. The City needs to take action before someone is seriously hurt by the growing problem the City allows to fester. It is only a matter of time.
