The stretch of Hillside between High and Henderson is dangerous for all modes of transportation - there is no safe place to make a left-hand turn from any intersection north or south, especially at rush hours. At least one or more signals and/or 4way stops are needed. Please don't wait for accidents to happen to address the problem. thank you
There is a bus stop here and many residents live at this apartment. I also see workers moving around a lot in this area. There is no cross walk to get people from scholar's quad apartments (or the IU buildings across from scholar's quad) to the nearest bus stop across the street. I have seen a lot of jay walking and close calls as residents attempt to cross the road to get to the bus bus on 10th and 45/46 bypass. Please consider placing a cross walk for residents to safely cross the street.
Just a suggestion, it would be helpful to have a crosswalk from Bloomington HS South from or around the faculty parking lot and or where the busses line up to a side walk. Currently, students are just crossing the street and it’s really unsafe.
N College Ave crosswalk next to CVS is just a standard crosswalk and I go down this street everyday home from work and it's very dangerous. I usually drive in the left lane because right lane has more potholes. I see pedestrians crossing this street and cars do not stop. I will stop in left lane for pedestrian but right lane does not see person crossing and has to slow down quickly. Would be nice if we can get a crosswalk that alerts drivers like the one on South Walnut Street. My fear is that someone will get struck by a car crossing this street. Today someone crossed I stopped for them and right lane car next to me almost hit them driving fast down this lane. I hope this can be taken into serious consideration. Going north on Rogers St, at the intersection with 3rd, the right lane is not very well marked as a turn only lane, or the marking have worn away. Two cars today alone cut me off in that intersection as I was in the left lane going straight and they were in the right lane, apparently also going straight. This is an accident waiting to happen. This intersection needs better markings and/or signage to make it safer and easier to navigate.
The median on Rogers near the Community Kitchen needs reflectors. It is very hard to see it at night
I have observed two near-collisions at the intersection of South Highland and East Hillside. Drivers coming from the west on Hillside seem sometimes to be surprised to find westbound traffic, preparing to make a lefthand turn and turn south on Highland, appearing in what the eastbound drivers perceive to be "their space." The street markings are nearly invisible. I'm sure repainting is scheduled but sooner might be good . . . Thanks!
I don't think 10th really needs expanded but if you do that recommendation make sure a signal goes in at 10th and Smith. It's already dangerous there turning left from Smith. Right turners squeeze by and obstruct view. Left turn protections and flow needs improved both at 10th and Smith and Third and Smith
I submitted ticket 176160 on June 14th. It was "closed" with the assurance having been sent to me that the needed pavement repainting on East Hillside was scheduled for July. Alas, it's August and - as of yesterday anyway - nothing has happened. Saw another "near miss" last Saturday, July 31st. I'm hoping not to see any more. Thanks!
