light not working south side of 10th street first light west of Lincoln
The streetlight in front of my house (2102 S. Georgetown Rd.) was repaired last fall. Some work with the underground wiring was apparently required. The light was fixed, but the job seems never to have been quite finished: there's still a pile of dirt by the lightpost, surrounded by orange construction cones. It's been that way for at least three months now, I think. Can this be cleaned up?
Street light flickering on and off (mostly off) at least between 5:30 and 6 am
I have nearly hit pedestrians and bicyclists crossing at this location at night because there are no street lights any where near this exceptionally long crosswalk. Since turning onto 7th street from a south heading means you are competing with north bound traffic on a major road, creeping across to look for pedestrians is not an option and straining to look for pedestrians poses a distraction when gauging oncoming traffic. Thank you.
A friend sent me the following email: Hey I have a issue and since you walk alot I always think of you. You know where Pete Ellis drive is. Well by the railroad tracks there is a walk cross and they need to add alot more lighten there would you contact who ever u call and tell them. It scares me that a walker is going to get hit. Eighth Street is extremely poorly lit. From Walnut all the way to Fess there are almost no street lights and its extremely dangerous. I feel unsafe walking home from the IU campus at night, or even walking home from a restaurant in the evening. The lack of street lights in this area is simply ridiculous. The city of Bloomington has an obligation to make sure its citizens are safe and it is neglecting to do so. The area that is the subject of this complaint is the exact same street in which Hannah Wilson was abducted and murdered, and within the last month the exact same street has been the location of an armed robbery. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that something must be done to make this area safer. The city has a responsibility to do everything within its power to protect its citizens, and adding a few streetlights hardly seems like an impossible task.
East Matlock Road is in need of street lights beginning from the corner of the 45/46 bypass continuing to the Headley School building. There are many residents, bicyclists, and students who use the street as a means of pedestrian passage to the stadium and IU campus at all hours of the night. There are only two lights - one on each end of the street - leaving the stretch in between to be dangerously dark and a hazard to walkers, bicyclists, drivers, and residents alike. Furthermore, with nearby cases of vandalism, theft, as well as the recent disappearance and death of an IU Student in the area, many residents have become concerned over the lack of lighting on the street. There are several utility poles lining the street where street lamps could be placed. The installation of street lamps would benefit not only pedestrian safety and visibility to drivers, but would also allow residents peace-of-mind with the added safety measures that lights would provide.
We would like a street light put in on the telephone pole across from our house (on 6th St between Adams and Ritter). There is a definitive dark spot in this area. Our house had an attempted robbery last night and our cars have been broken into numerous times - I believe that the dark part of the street may be a factor in some of this. If there was a street light, it may deter some crime. Other neighbors have reported their cars being broken into as well.
Hello, There is a street light out on W Dodds street between the 500 and 600 block. (the middle of the street).
