Dear all, I am writing you finally since I have been unhappy with the situtation of E Matlock Rd since we moved there around 15 years ago. The road should have a side walk on one side that goes all the way to the IU golf course (sure it would be great to have sidewalks or bikelane to Griffy Lake). But let's start small. Many people cross the bypass and go running, biking and walking in the area. Since they just come from the bypass the cars are often back to speed up again or come from the end of the street and speed up the hill. A lane for bikes and pedestrians or only pedestrians would at least protect them from always to watch every second. If out of a reason this sidewalk would not be an option please look into some speedbumps (maybe 2) on the street or at least one. People either race up the hill or down and it would be great to slow them down. It is a 30 zone but many drive 50m/h. Please let me know if there are talks about slowing down this street or putting in a sidewalk. thanks, Concerned citizen of Bloomington, Heike Meya
Construction sign down. Odd placement, not sure if it fell or is awaiting pickup.
The affordable housing located at the 2600 N Block of Walnut street on both sides has no connectivity to public transportation and no sidewalks connecting them to the nearest bus stop and grocery store. As a result pedestrians, including vulnerable elderly, are frequently seen walking in the bike lanes of N Walnut Street. The broken sidewalks between the intersection of Walnut and 45/46 and the affordable housing just north of Walnut and Fritz need to be made continuous as a matter of public safety before another pedestrian is killed.
We really need sidewalks on E 5th Street in Green acres. Many people walk on the street to IU.
Needs more salt, slipped and fell this morning
I'd like to submit a request to have the bike path and sidewalk cleared of overhanging vegetation. This is particularly dangerous at the curve of Eastgate and 46 as walkers have to walk on the street where cars quickly turn onto Eastgate. See red line indicating area where vegetation encroaches upon the boundaries of the bike path and sidewalk.
Is the City responsible for retaining walls alongside walkways or does it fall on adjacent property owners to maintain them? On the Lincoln side of this property there is an old wall that is just about to collapse. It seems that if a team of masons got in there now prior to its failure, they might be able to take it apart somehow and reset it so that it will last another 130 years. But if it were to fall on its own, the stones would likely all break up and be useless trash. Property owner (Parker Rentals) is aware of the potential problem, but they do not seem to care. The surrounding area has many retaining walls that add character to the community. It would be great if this one could be saved.
