I don't know if this is a city, IU, or even state issue, but the storm sewer just north of the entrance to the IU Outdoor Pool on Fee Lane is completely clogged. This creates a pool of standing water that covers the east sidewalk and part of the road. It's a possible breading ground for mosquitos. It also forces pedestrians to walk on the road since the west sidewalk is closed due to construction.
Pulling out of this alley either direction onto Woodlawn is a hazard, especially for pedestrians and bicyclists. To the right (on Subway/apartment bldg. side) is shrubbery that completely blocks the view of the sidewalk and street. Approaching it from the alley, we can't see if any vehicles or pedestrians are approaching from the north, traveling south. To the left of the alley is a rental house that has a shrub or tree or some other type of greenery that hangs far enough forward that we can't see what's approaching from the south, traveling north. We must ease our vehicles out into the street in order to see what's coming on Woodlawn in either direction. If we're turning right (to head north) when we ease out into the street for visibility, when we see that it's clear to turn onto Woodlawn it forces the front half of the vehicle to swing into the southbound lane. The shrub to the right of the alley (Subway building) needs to be trimmed drastically or removed altogether for safety's sake since the view of pedestrians and vehicle/bicycle traffic is completely blocked. And the tree/bush on the other side of the rental house to the left needs to be trimmed back enough for visibility. This alley is used daily by many. It contains IU parking spaces and parking for residential rental property, and U.S. Mail vehicles travel it daily for delivery. A colleague reported this to the city last year and nothing came of it.

A private limestone retaining wall has fallen on to a public sidewalk on Euclid street between west 2nd street and Howe street. The sidewalk is blocked and is a safety hazard. Someone could trip over the pile of stone and possibly file a lawsuit against the city. Also, the fallen wall has been there since January. Thanks, Chris.
The sidewalk has become overgrown. This makes it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to pass. This is particularly dangerous in this spot due to its proximity to a blind corner.
There is a dead raccoon on the north side of W 7th St, along the Fairview playground. It is in the grass adjacent to the sidewalk, across the street from 621 W. 7th. Thank you :)
Re case # 164723 (Supposedly resoled) Grass has been cut. Absolutely correct. But how about the E First sidewalk towards Rose? I do not see any improvement there. Low-hanging branches hitting me in the face and arms. Also, another problem has arisen: corner of Eastside and E First: long vegetation is starting to impair the view to the left where cars may be coming out of nothing from E First. There is some sort of storm drain cover between 718 and 706 University that flips over if you step on it. I was walking down the sidewalk on the north side of the street and had to walk on the grass to avoid low hanging trees (that really need to be trimmed). I stepped on the cover and it flipped and I fell into it up to my knee, causing several serious scrapes on my leg. It is very dangerous! I was hurt so I didn't take note of the exact address, but it's on the patch of grass between the sidewalk and the street, and the low-hanging trees make it impossible to walk down the sidewalk - more people are going to fall in it. Please fix it so it doesn't flip - it was a very scary and painful experience!
Hi, I had a note from the sanitation crew that said my trash was too close too a vehicle (true) and had to be placed on the curb. I live at 419 S Highland Ave. The trash and recycling cans were on the sidewalk, as they always are, so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put them closer to the street? Also, they are very close to a car because it's the only place they can be put other than the street or the driveway (which is shared) so I'm not sure what I should do. Also, my yard waste wasn't picked up at all, so I'm in a bit of a quandary. I think very highly of the folks picking up the trash and recycling and want to do whatever I can to make it as easy as possible. I'm just not sure how to do that. Please advise. I contacted IU but they said this light belongs to the city. The light to let pedestrians cross at 10th and Fee Lane (going from Kelley School to the Arboretum) is not working. I stood out there in the rain for 5 minutes today, pressing the button several times, but it did not turn to the pedestrian light when it was supposed to. Instead, cars kept going so I walked all the way up the sidewalk to the library where there is a "yield" pedestrian crosswalk; not that anyone does. This is a busy cross intersection for pedestrians, especially with orientation going on.
