The Stop Ahead sign on Indiana Ave between 3rd and 4th is missing. The sign post is still there, but I noticed the sign is gone. This is right by the front steps to the Law School.
I work in an IU office at 914 E Atwater. Our parking area is in the alley behind the building. It is reached through either an east-west or a north-south alley. Most of the houses along the alleys are rental properties; at least one is a private residence. There is a lot of overgrowth from the yards that extends into the alleys. I already have a scratch on my brand-new car because of being brushed by some of that overgrowth as I pulled into a place, having had to swing wide enough to fit in between two cars. Is there anything that can be done about brush that grows into an alley? Am I within my legal rights to bring a lopper to work to cut off the brush and small trees that are narrowing the alleyway? My old car had a number of scratches for the same reason, and I was hoping to avoid it with this one. But no such luck. On a related note, it is difficult and a bit dangerous trying to turn right from the east-west alley onto Faculty. Between the power pole and the overgrowth, visibility is terrible. I am happy to do the trimming if I won't get in trouble either with the city or with the homeowners, but it obviously would be better if the city could do it. The intersection of 3rd and Rogers is not well illuminated. At night, the intersection becomes dangerous to pedestrians because drivers cannot see pedestrians crossing the street. There is a lot of turning traffic at this intersection and drivers do not wait for pedestrians to cross the street. I have had several "close calls" there as well as neighbors I have talked to. There is a lamp post on the southwest corner, but it does not illuminate the intersection well enough. Its more for decoration than illumination. Can someone do a lighting survey to address this? thanks
I need to know who to contact about a construction permit displaying in the window. The owner listed on the sign is fraudulent. The locks have been changed. My sister Christine Wilhelm and son Charles Swinehart are the Owner. My brother has been in hospital and nursing care since July 1st 2016. He has been released but now he has no place to reside. Sheriff office responded to trespassing call on Saturday morning. They only said that it is a civil matter. I do not have permit number from the sign but it is dated 12/7/16.
After the snowfall a few days ago, our leasing office did not come clean our sidewalks at 729 E. Hunter Avenue. Because of this, the snow has melted and refrozen into an invisible sheet of ice over the red brick sidewalk. This morning as I left my home, I slipped and fell very hard on the sidewalk and bruised my hip. I'm now dealing with pain in my back and hips. My emergency maintenance man has basically blown me off even after stating that I had fallen and gotten hurt, so I am reporting Jeanne Walters Real Estate.

I am in the process of planning our office closure in Bloomington and have a question related to the alley that is located to the west of our current building. What would I need to request for the alley to be partially closed for a day or two for a moving truck to be parked there while we move out furniture?

I am writing this in regards to an elevator issue in which I was apart of at Smallwood Plaza. I am concerned about the safety hazard their elevators pose. On July 26, 2013 3:30 pm I had just come home from work at about 3:00 pm. I parked my car in the B1 garage of Smallwood so I could move my things back and forth easily. I went up to my apartment (the elevator seemed normal at this time), put my phone to charge, rested a bit, and then went back down to my car because I was moving. After packing my car, I went back to the elevator to go back upstairs to my apartment, on the 7th floor. I keyed my card to go up, the elevator started rising, and I heard a peculiar sound. The best way I can describe this sound is that it sounded like chains rubbing against each other. Then, the elevator shook and jolted. Luckily, I didn't get hurt, but I was forced to the other side of the elevator because of the jolt. I immediately pressed the emergency button as well as the alarm button. After waiting for 5 minutes with no response, having no phone because I had left it to charge, I started to panic and hyperventilate. I waited for 30 minutes alone in this elevator. I looked for the emergency phone in the box and was horrified to see that it wasn't there. I had pressed the emergency button for 30 minutes. I had looked up at the security camera thinking, "can't you see me?!" Thirty minutes later, a girl on the other side of the elevator said: "is anyone in there? I replied: "yes can you please open the elevator?!" "I can't it's not opening. I will go get help, ok?" I was thankful that someone had heard me. A couple of minutes later, a maintenance guy showed up. He opened the elevator with his hands, and gave me his hand so I could climb down because the elevator was stuck in between floors. It took a little more than a week to fix the elevator. After my incident, I first talked to someone in the City of Bloomington building and he said to talk to Smallwood first and then report back if nothing was resolved. I talked to the Smallwood office management. Their response to me was "It happens, it's normal." Appalled, I said, "Well, will you let me know what happened?" and she replied "what do you mean" and I said: "well, with the elevator..." and she said: "I can take your name and number and have my manager call you" Whitney, the woman I had this short conversation with, seemed to be completely dry and not concerned about this situation. I never heard from the manager or the office. I find this issue to be a huge safety hazard to the public. Please let me know what will be done about this situation. Thank you, Priscilla Massey
