I wonder who's responsibility it is to trim and clear the vegetation along the sidewalk in this area. The sidewalk is essentially unusable on one side now. Also, who is responsible for clearing the snow in this area? This stretch of sidewalk is never cleared of snow.
A new drain on the sidewalk along South Henderson St by the South football practice fields has a raised portion. We are concerned that in the dark (night or mornings) that pedestrians will not notice the raised portion and will trip, fall, end up n the street. Could this be striped some way to announce it's presence?
The sidewalk just north of the YMCA sign on South Highland Ave is slick with mud. Erosion from an adjacent hillside and mud/leaves from the gutter keep the sidewalk muddy. I shoveled mud off off it for an hour earlier this week, but it needs more work. Cleaning the gutter would be a big help. Thanks!
Hi: I am just wondering who is responsible for street/landscape maintenance along certain streets in the city and county that I travel often. Along Smith Rd., just north of Hillside, there was a lot of brush that has been cut down but nothing else and an ugly partial fence is still standing. The new roundabout at Sare Rd. and Rogers….who is responsible for maintaining the landscaping that was installed. It is a bunch of weeds right now. Along south Highland, just north of Rogers, there is a curve that is alway full of potholes and the street and sidewalk are a mess. On Sare Rd., at the entrance to Hyde Park, who is responsible for a mess of grass clippings that is always left after the grass is allowed to grow very, very long. It is still there. There needs to be 1 or 2 streetlights put it on east 12th street between Grant street and North Walnut. It is especially dark in between Lincoln and Washington street and at night you cannot see the sidewalk at all. Most people living on E12th street are students, many of whom have night classes ending as late as 9 or 10pm. My roommates and I specifically have classes ending at 8:30 and 9 when the streets are too dark to see anything. With the current atmosphere in Bloomington, many residents of 12th street feel unsafe walking home from class, work, or to their neighbors. Installing A street lamp or two would greatly improve the safety and comfort of people living on E 12th street. The attached photo shows just how dark the sidewalk is with out a flash light at night. No one should have to feel afraid of walking down their own street at 8pm and the addition of street lamps on E12th street can help fix this.
Residents have multiple cars and trucks parked across the full width of the sidewalk bordering their house. This extends beyond any staging or load-up for their food truck, and is a regular parking spot for their SUV, sedan, and guests. I reported this issue via "Blocked Sidewalk", and as a Broadview neighborhood officer I would appreciate a direct update on communication to these neighbors. Thanks so much.
Overgrown sidewalk
The middle LED sidewalk light west of the pedestrian bridge alongside Country Club has been out for a year. I've reported this before.
So many children bike and walk through Olcott Park to get to Jackson Creek Middle School. Why are there no lights for the extremely dark conditions at 7:30 am? Even one light along the sidewalk or walking path would help immensely.
