Street Snow Removal

Case Date:
2/27/2013

Airport road snow plowing and salting-yesterday that is on feb 26 2013 Airport road had many accidents. All between 2:30and 3:30pm.snow started falling after noon but no salt truck or plower came on the road.Iwould like to know why ? I saw trucks after the snow stopped.I am writing this because it was very personal to our family. One car came right into side of our garage .you can see the picture on the Pantagraph.we live in this house for more than 10 years now.i noticed that snow trucks and powers give last priority to Airport road and the streets off the road. As you know there is Normal community high school on Raab road and most of the students and their parents and Unit5 buses use the Airport road.It should be your first priority to salt and plow Airport road as soon as snow starts to accumulate. Please see that you salt and plow before and during the end of the school that is 2:30 pm.I think those accidents could be avoided if your department monitored the condition of the road better.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

Case Date:
1/13/2014

Large areas of potholes, some very deep, on Highland Avenue. The worst area is just north of Winslow Road, where the Winslow Trail merges with the sidewalk on Highland. Often filled with water so it is difficult to tell how deep they are when driving. Also, large areas of potholes are present on both sides of Rogers Road, toward the top of the hill at the entrance to The Stands neighborhood (up the east hill from the Winslow/High/Rogers Roundabout). Thank you!!

City Performance

Case Date:

Please forward this praise to the appropriate dept: If we haven't thanked the appropriate department already, on behalf of Bloomington Transit I want to give an enormous thanks to all the staff responsible for clearing the roads so that BT's fixed route and BTaccess (disabled transport) could successfully maintain operations last week during the awful cold and snow. We were one of the few transit systems in Indiana that did not shut down. Customers were very impressed and grateful and we owe this to you! - Eli McCormick, Customer Service Manager

Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

Case Date:
6/22/2015

In front of 1006 E 1st, there is a hole between the sidewalk and tree plot that I'm concerned may be quite large and have the potential to compromise the integrity of the sidewalk. It's not visible from the road - just when you're standing next to the tree in the tree plot there. It may not be a problem, but it might be a good idea to have someone take a look.

Blocked Sidewalk

Case Date:
6/16/2018

A private limestone retaining wall has fallen on to a public sidewalk on Euclid street between west 2nd street and Howe street. The sidewalk is blocked and is a safety hazard. Someone could trip over the pile of stone and possibly file a lawsuit against the city. Also, the fallen wall has been there since January. Thanks, Chris.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

Case Date:
4/3/2018

Stormwater runoff into detention area on E. Brightcrest on east side of S. Smith Road is slow to drain due to vegetation blockage of storm sewer. During heavy rain it results in water flowing over sidewalk and into the street. It also is flooding spruce trees and thus may be detrimental to their health if the condition continues into somewhat warmer weather.
