Water Quality

Case Date:
10/2/2016

Hello, I live at 646 Bayberry Ct W and have been drinking tap water for years. My impression is that the taste changed significantly for the worse about a month or so ago. There was one day when it was so bad that I could not swallow it. It improved somewhat after that but still has much more of an after-taste than in the past, in spite of the fact that I bought myself a water filter. What is the cause of this and what can/will you do about it? I really don't want to have to start buying bottled water again.

Fire Hazards

1417 W Allen ST

Case Date:
10/2/2016

I saw some neighborhood kids playing on what looked like our neighbors' power or phone box units. The kids were jumping and pushing them and pretending (I think?) to get shocked. One kid looked like he was trying to pull one over. I am concerned that they will get hurt or that a fire will start due to the damage. When I went to tell them to stop, they had run off.

Parks & Rec Programs

Case Date:
10/3/2016

Hi, Is Hilltop still a part of the Bloomingto Parks and Rec. Department? Visited recently and was really surprised to see how far the program has drifted from its original mission as a youth gardening program. With the money provided by Dr. Shalucha and the funds raised for the new gardening house and greenhouses, I feel that the youth gardening program should be the major focus of the garden and not a free family gardening spot. Any way to bring the original Hilltop back? Mary Hursh

Traffic Suggestions

1133-1149 Knightridge Road

Case Date:
10/4/2016

Hello, The portion of the 446 between the Gentry East entrance and the newly constructed Gentry Park Senior Living is currently marking the median as dotted line, meaning passing is allowed. This does not seem to be a good idea considering that there are quite some traffic going in and out both from Compton blvd (Gentry East property) and from Gentry drive (Gentry Estates property) to 446. I had a near-collision incident yesterday. I was going to make a left-turn toward the Compton blvd from southbound 446. At the very moment of turning left, I happened to see my side-mirror to find a car was speeding up toward the opposite lane to pass the three cars all at once. I was fortunate to be able to make a stop to avoid the collision. Yes, that driver must be an idiot but I would like to ask the City (or State) to do something for this. As long as this portion of the road allows passing, there are potential dangers for the cars traveling this portion of the road. As the Gentry Park Senior Living is becoming open, the situation could be getting worse. Please make this portion of the road passing not allowed both ways. Thanks.

999 Atwater Avenue

Case Date:
10/4/2016

For the last couple of weeks there has been an orange traffic barrel with a "Sidewalk Closed" sign on it sitting in the back yard of a student rental house next to our office. I assume it is a city barrel. Our office is at 914 E. Atwater, the first building east of the Subway. The house the barrel is behind is the next house east of us (blue siding, white trim). The easiest way to get to it is through the alley: go up Atwater past the Subway and turn right into the alley just past the grass lot. Turn left into the alley that runs parallel with Atwater. The barrel is in the grass between the parking lot behind our building and the parking area behind the rental house.

Street Lights

Case Date:
10/4/2016

I am seriously concerned that there is no street lamp at W Vernal and N Adams and/or W 8th St. and W Vernal (Waterman). The fact that these two major intersections in western Bloomington have no street lights, when the area is known to have a relatively high-rate of nighttime crime, makes little sense to me. Moreover, as my wife and I are commuter cyclists and often return home at night, these are the only sections of town between the University and our house which aren't lit. So not only is the lack of city street lights/lamps a crime issue, it's also a public safety and transportation issue as well. I look forward to a street light(s) installation in this section of town very soon. Thank you for your consideration, Sam.

Street Lights

Case Date:
10/4/2016

The corner of W. 8th Street and W. Vernal Pike is very dark and dangerous at night, especially for pedestrians and bicyclists (of which I am both). I am requesting lights be installed at that location in order to make the area safer for pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars. The Waterman neighborhood has many residents who bicycle and walk through that part of the street, and they are at risk of being hit by cars. It is also a case of making people feel safe at night. Also, I am writing this as a property owner (1521 W. 8th Street) and resident of four years who would like to feel safer and has only just found out about this UReport process, otherwise I would have submitted this request years ago.
