Hello, I live two doors down from the Banneker center. I have a request that the city, park the van either on the side street next to the center or in front of the center...I realize this is city parking and they have a right to park there. The staff park the van in front of my house and leave it there all weekend and they usually park the van directly in front of mine and my neighbor's house, while they have plenty of room on the west side of the building to park. Or possibly at the girls Club. They usually leave the van there all weekend . They usually park at at least 3 feet from the end of the yellow line. We can normally park three cars there. This effectively cuts off any accessible parking in front of my house and my neighbor's house. I don't mind the extra parking for the kids activities all during the week but this is the staff van. I know this is perfectly legal but on in the interest of good neighborhood relations I am making this request.
thank you,
Barbara Metz

The stop sign on S Stull Avenue at E Maxwell Ln, going south, is obscured by a tree and can't be seen by drivers. I am a police officer with IUPD. A woman flagged me down to let me know that she was concerned because she had seen someone run the stop sign because of this issue. I went to the location and confirmed that the stop sign was hidden by leaves. She does not have email so I told her I would report this to the city to try to get it fixed. Thank you!

"Tree-Keeper" database reports 56 Ailanthus altissima ("tree of heaven") trees being maintained by the City. Given this is an invasive plant and is known to be the primary food source for Lycorma delicatula (spotted lanternfly), should the City be obliged to remove these trees that are listed on the State list: ("Prohibited Invasive Terrestrial Plants [312 IAC 18-3-25]", https://ag.purdue.edu/department/entm/iisc/invasive-plants.html) ? If HAND is going to proactively threaten residents by "asking" them to remove something that is not on the State list (e.g., bamboo), it seems profoundly hypocritical for them to not address a serious ecological issue that they are helping to advance.

Large (20+ ') Ailanthus altissima (so-called "tree of heaven", noxious and prohibited) trees growing on NE corner of lot, close to sidewalks. Another opportunity for HAND to connect with residents and make more friends.
