Parks & Playgrounds

Case Date:

Visited Bryan Park pool this weekend for first time with my 5 year old. We arrived Sunday afternoon, saw people in the pool, and joined them. Within minutes we had a teenage lifeguard yelling from across the pool to get out in our general direction. I was a little confused, and uncertain who exactly he was yelling out. This continued as he runs around the pool to yell specifically at me. I explained to him that I was unsure why exactly we were being told to get out of the pool when there were other patrons using it. He told us it was adult swim time and children were not allowed in the pool. After reflection on this I am a little frustrated. There was no signage indicating that children were not allowed in the pool at the time we arrived, and I feel like his response to the situation was completely unnecessary. I would suggest that signs be posted of some sort to indicate when children are not allowed in the pool at the very least. If this is supposed to be some known unwritten rule, I arrived not knowing it and that was not fair. Thanks for your consideration.

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, we went downtown to have lunch with friends. We parked on the north side of E. 4th Street a half block past Indiana Avenue. I stepped out of the car on the passenger side and stepped into a grass covered hole approximately 5 inches deep by 25 inches across . It had been mowed in such a manner to make it appear that the ground was level. I sustained a sprained left ankle plus a fracture of lateral malleolus of left fibula. I will be in an air cast for an indeterminate amount of time followed by physical therapy. I could only attach one photo, but, we took several more photos of the area. Was the City notified of this area before August 2nd? If not, you are now on notice and hopefully the hole can be filled in before someone else is injured.

The property next to my home has not had the yard cut in a very long time. It’s only been cut once this spring/summer. I reported this a few weeks ago and it has still not been cut. I have attached one picture. Thanks for your help in getting this addressed and resolved.

I live nearby and the owner of this property rarely cuts the grass. I believe it’s only been cut once this summer and only 50% of the yard was cut then. Weeds everywhere and the height is well above eight inches. Please make them cut the grass on a consistent basis. Thank you!

Due to the construction on East 19th street, I have not been able to get any mail for two weeks. This is a serious problem, considering I was also just robbed (as well as multiple other houses on my street) and I have a security system coming in the mail. There is a very obvious way to access N Washington Street that any navigation system reroutes you to, but none of the mail trucks have been going up that way. They could at least receive instructions to walk it up to the correct address from their delivery trucks, it’s a very big problem to not be able to receive mail and I’m a bit frustrated with the whole situation.

Utility Construction Projects

100 N Morton St

Case Date:

There are steel cables attached to limestone blocks at this location, intended to prevent unauthorized parking. However, these cables are not clearly visible at night or at dusk. Unfortunately, a family member fell over one of the cables yesterday evening and sustained a head injury requiring medical treatment. Given the lack of visibility and the safety risk these cables pose, I respectfully request that steps be taken to either improve their visibility or implement a safer alternative to prevent further incidents.
