Near miss. During the morning, walk to school, kids were crossing high Street around 8:35 AM, there’s a crossing guard there who triggered the crosswalk lights, and stood in the middle of the road with his stop sign, but a car approaching from the north did not stop, and drove through the crosswalk around 25 to 30 mph. Talking with the cross guard, this happens quite often, because it is at the bottom of a hill with limited visibility. I highly recommend putting a stop sign at that intersection similar to everywhere else on high Street.

I originally reported piles of sand and gravel in the bicycle lane – from Old State Route 37 to 11th Street – on July 10 (Case 204099). When nothing was done, I submitted another request on July 26 (Case 204511). Six weeks have now elapsed, and the sand and gravel are still there. Why does it take so long for the city to remove bicycling hazards?

There is excessive sand and gravel in the bicycle lane on N. Walnut St. from 17th Street to Old State Route 37. This creates a sliding hazard for bicyclists in close proximity to high-speed motor vehicles.

Cars cut through Matlock Heights to avoid the light at Walnut/Bypass. We need traffic calming here to slow traffic down. Cars are driving at high speeds and not watching out for walkers and children biking. This has been a major issue during the construction which is happening now on Walnut and the Bypass, but is also year round.

on Rogers/Madison, where it changes name and crosses over the railroad tracks just north of 11th street, the bike lane is on the uphill side of the street. so at the apex, it switches from one side of the street to the other. at this switching point, we have lost our 'dashed line' merge zones. i am hoping that someone from Engineering will go look at the facts on the ground and validate its correctness. when it was conceptually designed back in 2011, i thought "gee they're gonna have to do a good job of signing that if it's not going to be a nightmare for cyclists to merge into traffic". and then when it was *finally* implemented around 2017-2019, it was just striped lines indicating that there is a merge. but when the bridge was re-decked in 2020-2021, they repainted it wrong. and subsequent generations of painting have each made it worse, to where the southbound merge zone is completely missing and cyclists are directed to stay in the abruptly-ending bike lane on the dangerous high speed downhill segment. and the northbound merge zone has been reduced to about 30 feet, again, at the wrong place for the merge.

Bicycle parking is never good for the Saturday Farmer's Market, but today it was exceptionally problematic.
When I first arrived I was able to lock my trike but when I had trouble accessing my lock and when I did get to it two helpful young men assisted by lifting my trike to free it from the pile.
I am 75 years old. This was hard.
My trike is ADA compliant but it is not compact. I don't take it into the market, but my walking ability is limited so don't tell me about the bike racks that are blocks away from the market.
Please do better with bike parking convenient to the market
