Could the city look into removing the temporary sign at the corner of Pete Ellis Drive and Third Street that direct motorists to the various shops in the Barnes & Noble and Best Buy shopping centers? I believe this sign was placed during contruction on the 3rd Street and 46 Bypass construction to help motorists navigate into these shops. Now that construction is complete, can this unneeded sign please be removed?
Hi, there. Not sure who to send this to, so I'm hoping you can forward it on. First, I recently came across this idea of closing streets (temporarily) to allow kids to play. I think it would be amazing to see something like this in Bloomington. http://www.reading.gov.uk/residents/community-and-living/play-streets/ Secondly, I took my three year old to Touch a Truck this year. What a wonderful event! We had a blast. He has been every year of his life, but this was the first time I was able to go with him. I wanted to give my feedback about the amount of candy at the event. It seems like it was everywhere and several other moms I talked to were really upset about it (especially since a lot of it was hard candy or really chewy stuff that can be a choking hazard for very young children). I think the trucks are the main event and the kids are so excited to see them. Adding candy to the mix just complicates things unnecessarily. Personally, I was really surprised to see the giant colors of fruit drinks (which I assume were donated by Pepsi). It was SO hot outside. I had forgotten our water bottles and really would have loved a drink of cold water. Our kids don't drink fruit drinks, so we just waited until we left and got water bottles elsewhere. But I would hope that Parks & Rec is all about encouraging healthy bodies, right? Maybe Pepsi could bring some water next year. Thanks.

For HAND: this is my annual complaint about the shrubs in front of 401 S High Street. They are starting to encroach on the sidewalk again so that it will be hard for someone with a stroller to pass that part of the sidewalk. And once someone is in the neighborhood, they may want to check out the south-west corner of the Second and High Street intersection. Weeds are starting to creep up the sidewalk there as well. Have been in Bloomington, IN doing business since 1998. Moved from Michigan to grow in a community that can support my business growth as well as my family growing demand of good city, parks, things to do and education. I am proud to be part of bloomington, as a family person and business man. This is one of most multi cultural town with always things to do and well maintained with awesome inviting landscaping, streets, bike paths,etc.. through out the whole city. Hello. You might recall that I recently asked the City about removing this sign; you stated it was the jurisdiction of the State. Here's my request to them and their reply from June 18. I doubt this is a legal sign from understanding past history. Can you remove this unneeded sign and alleviate sign pollution? Can you please look into removing the temporary sign that was installed on SR46 in Bloomington at its intersection with Pete Ellis Drive? The sign points directions to local businesses whose entrances were affected during last year's SR46 Bloomington bypass construction project. This sign is located on the NW corner of SR46 (East Third Street) and Pete Ellis Drive. It's obvious this sign was meant to be temporary, and now that construction is complete it should be removed. Dear Mr. Arvesen, I sent your concerns to our Construction Department. They state that the temporary sign in question is not a sign that INDOT and/or the Contractor working on the State Road 46 Bypass project installed. This is a sign that the shopping center had made and installed. You would need to contact the shopping center management to have this sign removed because it is a sign that they had installed, not INDOT. Our Construction Department has also sent an email to the City of Bloomington to notify them of your concerns about this sign.
The railroad crossing at SR45/46 and 10th St is broken. The arms are stuck down. I work nearby and a have been watching the line of cars grow and grow for the last 15 minutes
