Trash
668-698 North Summitt Street

First of all, much thanks for the Community Kitchen Express location at the corner of 11th & Monroe Sts. One of the problems is the trash from the meals, littering the field across the street from this location, all the way down the alley that is parallel with Summit in between Summit and Monroe (it is hard to see all of the trash with snow on ground, so did not include pics). Also, at the corner of Summit & 11th St (parked on the east side of Summit) there are at least 2 trucks constantly parked there, FULL of trash (some in bags)- where there is often gentlemen 'scrapping' items for metal, etc. This trash overflows into the neighboring lot, through the neighborhood. Can Parks & Rec place several trash cans next to the Community Kitchen Express w signs asking those who use the service to PLEASE throw away trash, instead of throwing it on the ground? Picnic tables in the field would offer a place for them to sit & eat, & trash cans next to them would encourage them to dispose of trash properly! As for the "scrapper trucks"....I'm not sure they even live on this block- I've heard that they live in public housing (across the street) but have been kicked out of parking those vehicles there...???
