For the entire 12 years we have lived next door to our neighbor, Roger Reading, 2403 N. Browncliff Ln., he has left piles of trash and inoperable cars on his property. We have asked him many times to clean it up, and he occasionally has complied, only to resume using his driveway and surrounding area as his open trash can and junkyard. He fills the unused cars with trash, throws trash on the ground (sometimes right next to trash and recycling bins), animals get into it and spread it around, etc. The current tally of neglected cars is 6--one in his open garage, surrounded by garbage, and five in his driveway (part of which we share as easement to Browncliff). I was once also in his home as per his invitation to help him locate a waterline break. It is also filled with trash and is in a state of utter disrepair. The one photo you allow me to attach does not come close to doing justice to the extent of this mess. We are tired of allowing him to affect our sanitation and property values. Excessive Growth

1508 W 11th ST

This report is in reference to serious overgrowth on a City right-of-way on the corner of N. Oolitic St. and W. 11th St. The property that this right-of-way is connected to is 1508 W. 11th St. The owner of this property is/was Joseph E. Day. However, he is recently deceased. At this time, the property is in the process of repossession by BB&T Bank. I know that in usual circumstances, Joe may have been responsible for the care of this area. However as I stated, he is now deceased. I have been trying to contact BB&T Bank - I actually may have an interest in purchase of the property since I own the vacant adjoining lots - but have gotten absolutely no response. In the mean time, the overgrowth on the City right-of-way that is on the west edge of his property is growing out into Oolitic St, has grown to the point of obscuring the speed limit sign, and is covering a fire hydrant. I am hoping that, given the circumstances, the City could come and mow/cut/clear that area. The main backyard is inside a fence, but this small section along Oolitic St has been left outside the fence. Thank you, Anthony Eller

Excessive Growth

When trying to make a turn from Orris Dr onto W. 11th St, the excessive growth from this home obscures the view enough to where a driver has to stick the nose of his/her car all the way out on 11th to be able to see if the way is clear. Obviously, this is dangerous. It could cause an accident with cars, schools busses running to and from Tri-North, or any pedestrian walking down the sidewalk - which, in and of itself, is obscured.

I am reporting this property for the SECOND time. Nothing has changed - it has gotten worse. When reported previously, Jo Stong's response was, "Well, I drove by and didn't see anything that couldn't be outside." How ridiculous. This is NOT how the city ordinance qualifies debris. Ordinance 6.06.020 - Deposit of Garbage reads, "It is unlawful for any person to throw, place, or scatter any garbage, recyclable materials, or yard waste over or upon any premises, street, alley, either public or private, or to suffer or permit any garbage, recyclable materials or yard waste to be placed or deposited on the premises owned, occupied, or controlled by such person either with or without the intent to LATER REMOVE, COVER, OR BURN IT. Also, we know that there is an ordinance regarding construction debris. The fact is this home, which is zoned "single family home" is being used for storage only. If I read it correctly, there are no utilities currently turned on to the house. I own property in this area and I expect HAND to inform city ordinances just like they would in Hyde Park. It is not right that HAND allows blight to ruin the well-being and property rights of others.
