In front of the house at 521 W. 4th Street, the sidewalk on the south side of 4th Street is very narrowed because the plants are growing over the sidewalk. It would be great if they trimmed back these plants so that the sidewalk is clear.
There are tall orange cones in front of 521 W. Kirkwood & pink paint marking the lawn & sidewalk. Same set-up across the street. If the city is planning to dig up something--pipes, et, will this affect where the BL Transit can pickup & drop passengers? I catch the bus in front of 521 to go to work. Thanks.
There is a hydrant with a big mound of dirt adjacent to it and snow fencing surrounding it completely. This is at 9th and Fairview. This seems like a hazard. It looks to be part of the city’s fiber project
Retaining wall on NE corner of property alongside Washington Street is starting to collapse. Some of the stone has fallen onto the sidewalk. Still passable, but probably should be addressed. Might be hazardous at night.
Homeless encampment on Kirkwood. Another reason Kirkwood should never be closed.
Poor/horrible visibility at the intersection of 4th and Jackson streets. If you are traveling on Jackson and needing to turn on 4th or cross 4th - you have to pull 1/2 way into the road to see around parked cars. I've witnessed several near accidents. Recommending a 4 way stop at this intersection.
The corner of Post Rd as you're approaching Staats on the right hand side is so overgrown with trees cars cannot be in the right lane. We walk to school with our daughter and have often had to get out of the way of traffic b/c this road is effectively 1 lane at the moment. 2 homes, the one at the corner of Staats and Post and the one at the corner of post and "Hollywood" both have shrubs/trees that impede traffic/walkers and make it even more dangerous than it should be. If the owners aren't willing to change this landscaping the city should have the ability to cut considering that the shrubs are covering no less than 3 ft into the street. This is dangerous for cars, walkers, and bike riders in the neighborhood. MUST BE ADDRESSED.
I'm not sure if this is the proper way to report this, but there is a very dangerous crosswalk where I've almost been hit multiple times and I have seen the same thing with other pedestrians. The problem is when crossing from the NE corner of 10th and Walnut to the NW corner. The problems result from the fact that 1) the crosswalk is obscured from view for drivers on 10th coming from the East and 2) the stop line for those drivers is back from the intersection to allow for trucking turning E on 10th from Walnut. The result is that pedestrians start to cross on the walk signal but the drivers turning right from 10th have a bit of speed by the time they can even see anyone in the crosswalk and frequently can't stop in time when they come upon a walker. The only real safe way to navigate that crosswalk as a pedestrian is to just not use the actual crosswalk (eg. stay way to the left almost in the lane of traffic so you are even seen). If you try crossing there at 5pm any day of the week, you will immediately see what I'm talking about. ;) I'm not sure what the solution is but I just know it is very dangerous. At a bare minimum, I would suggest removing the bush at the NE corner to increase visibility but even then the layout of that corner is dangerous so perhaps someone can take a look and see if anything can be done? Also, right across the street is a sidewalk closed sign that I suspect someone took from somewhere else so you may also want to pick that up. Thanks!
At the NW corner of the intersection of 12th and Fess, there is a relatively new, ADA-compliant sidewalk/curb installation. There may be physical and/or legal reasons for having the center, raised concrete portion present, but it is not obvious and as a result is a trip hazard. We have tripped on it several times. There is a current project at the same intersection, so we were hoping that they could redo it or at least paint the section yellow so that it stands out. It is dangerous the way it is now.
