There are not enough garbage bins on the b line trail. Between country club and the park, there is only one. There is often trash thrown on the trail in the trees. Even 1 more at the start of the trail on country club would be helpful. Thank you.

Water smells like dirt. Literally like soil. It’s been this way for at least a week, and nothing has made it better. I’ve tried bleach in the drains, thinking it was the pipes.

Smoke detectors non working beeping over a week, one has been hanging from my son room ceiling, I have told staff in regards of being freightened it will fall on him also have reported it to them in writing. The microwave light has been out as well as two in my bathroom in which I've asked them to reach several times and I am disabled with hip replacements so it isn't a possibility for me to do so. Stairway has harmful items blocking the door. Stairway has harmful items such as Ziploc bag next to a needle appearing to not have a covering so the pointy tip side is visibly out and I notified staff in case a child or anyone incidentally gets hurt or stabbed with it.
Window screen appears to have huge slit in it
Heat not working all winter and fall in which I personally purchased a small portable heater. All detectors beeps but they do not assist me to replace making me very concerned for my safety.

There are multiple low-hanging trees on the south side of E Hagan Street that make the sidewalk difficult to pass. I believe these are city-maintained trees on the easement.

In the fall we had a Bradford Pear tree removed from the easement in front of our house as it was falling apart. They left a lot of mulch in the area, and we were told a tree would get planted there. To date, no tree or reseeding has been placed. Looking for further instruction to what we need to or can do as far as replanting.

I am the President of the Board of Trustees at Unity of Bloomington. Our parking lot is partially owned by us, and partially City property as the B-Line runs behind our building on S. Rogers & Gordon Pk. (We currently maintain the entire parking lot vis-a-vis snow removal etc.)
Recent changes, especially in Switchyard Park, have precipitated a migration of unhoused persons south on the B-Line trail. The UoB parking lot has become a stop-over for derelict vehicles and we're experiencing a significant increase in loitering and trash.
The Board of Trustees recognizes that this is an important ministry opportunity, and we are engaged in prayerful consideration of reasonable steps forward. In the meantime, we host a nursery school in our facility and safety is an ongoing concern.
My current request is this:
1. Could we receive help from the City to secure a larger trash barrel than the small trail-sized container currently in place near our parking lot (and would it be up to us or the City to tend it)?
2. Could the City help by providing a cigarette butt receptacle for our parking lot? (My husband and I collected more than 100 cigarette butts from the Unity parking lot before services last Sunday)
3. Are there any other recommendations or resources the City might provide in a situation such as this?
Thank you for any advice and assistance you can provide,
Joanie Spain
UoB Board President
