I am delighted that the two new boardwalks have traction strips. I hope that this one, on the central path, near the rest rooms, will get the strips soon. THIS is the slippery one where I fell and injured my wrist. In a cast and brace for about two months. I uReported all three boardwalks. In response this one was power-washed and I was assured more would be done when Spring came. I hope this report goes through---lately they haven't.
I've already uReported my concern about deteriorating memorial tree markers in Bryan Park. This report is a bit different. There are several dogwoods on the south side of the Park along the perimeter path. One of them honored Mildred Diane Singleton. I noticed it because I had known her. The marker seems to be missing, perhaps from this tree. I'd like to know whether it has been temporarily removed for some reason. Thanks.
Tree on north side of Bryan Park, just north of the asphalt path. Misidentified as Ohio Buckeye (Aesculus glabra). It is red horse chestnut (Aesculus x carnea). Buckeye (Aesculus glabra) has pale yellowish flowers. Red buckeye (Aesculus pavia) has bright red flowers. Red horse-chestnut (Aesculus x carnea) has (bright) pink flowers.
Bryan Park boardwalks are slippery when wet or frosty. I fell and hurt my wrist on the old one, near the rest rooms. I'll be in a cast for at least a month. Please consider treating the boardwalks to reduce the risk. Thanks!
Scooter parked across the width of the sidewalk at 714 E First, Sunday afternoon.
THANK YOU for repairing two sections of sidewalk on Second Street east of S. Park Avenue.
Left: looking east on 1st Right: looking westbon 1st toward Woodlawn. Sidewalk overgrown.
During trash pick-up today, the trucks doing the work were leaking significant amounts of oil or hydraulic fluid at each stop. Because of this morning's rain, this left an iridescent pool at every pick-up location. We appreciate the great service provided, but both the trucks and the neighborhoods would be much better off without the leaking oils left behind. I suspect those trash trucks are very expensive, and will survive longer with regular maintenance.
At 4219 Deckard Dr. in Eastern Heights, there is a small blue Mazda which daily is parked facing the wrong way in front of this house, despite a very wide and accessible driveway a few feet away. This parking causes MCCSC buses, City of Bloomington Snow and Salt trucks, and neighborhood traffic to dodge hazardously around this car on a regular basis. It would be a good thing if the owner could be advised and encouraged to park in a manner that does not inconvenience the rest of the community. Thank you.
