Hello. I am a Bloomington resident residing at 110 1/2 W 6th St. My apartment entrance is in an alleyway off of 6th between Walnut and College. While this alley has normal amounts of debris, there seem to be many unsafe wires dangling from the various poles and buildings. My main concern is with the alley behind my building. The entrance is off of Walnut between "Btown Diner" and "Samira" restaurants. There is an abundance of trash, grease, vomit, bugs, defecation, and cigarettes throughout the space that causes a repulsive smell and attracts many rodents. This is a very unsanitary environment that workers from the businesses(restaurants especially) on 6th Street take their breaks in. I am not sure the best course of action but I would suggest having the businesses clean their trash bins in addition to having the city power wash the grease and other various fluids off the pavement. An extremely bright and misdirected floodlight was recently installed on the shed-like building on the south portion of the lot. The fixture is casting dangerously bright and offensive glare on the back sides of the adjacent properties and the front of houses across the street. Please ask the absentee owner to follow normal procedures and guidelines when making changes to this once cute house that has unfortunately been allowed to be dragged down to its current condition.
