I live on Southern drive, which is a side street off of Walnut. I have noticed people speeding on Walnut and it has become increasingly dangerous for other drivers who are following the speed laws. Is there any way that there could be more of a police presence who can run radar and could possibly reduce the speeding on this road? I think it would really help! Thank you!
The vast majority of cars do not yield to pedestrians looking to cross the street using the crosswalk at the intersection of 3rd and Grant. Oftentimes when a car in one of the lanes yields to a crossing pedestrian, cars in the other lane will not yield and drive straight through the crosswalk when a pedestrian is attempting to cross. My concern is that eventually a pedestrian who thinks they are safe while crossing will be struck by a driver not aware of the law. I think Bloomington PD could generate a lot of revenue from tickets in just one day by having someone monitoring that crosswalk. Putting in a new sign that says the law is to yield could also be a solution.
Excessive speed and noise along College Mall Road from motorcycles. They are racing up and down the street at a high rate of speed. While cars are an issue, the motorcyclists are more disturbing and prone for an accident.
my car has been hit twice while parked in front of my house on W 7th street. It’s been a hit and run both times. They just leave my mirror in pieces on the street. The issue is people speeding and not waiting their turn to go when there are two cars on the street. I’ve had to pay out of pocket to fix my mirror. Not to mention, when I’m trying to get my kiddos out of their car seats, cars just fly by at high speed. I’m just waiting for the day my entire door gets taken off.
A tenant in this house regularly drives the wrong way on 11th Street. To get to the parking spot in back, the approach should be from Washington (from the west) but instead she takes what she has decided is a convenient shortcut from Lincoln. This has caused near collisions multiple times with pedestrians who are walking on 11th street (which for some reason has no sidewalks in this block). Each time, she flippantly squeals, "Oh, sorry!" as if she didn't know better, even though she has been given a talking to about this several times. It is clearly marked "One Way" towards the east. Can the police give someone a ticket for something they did not actually witness? What is the best approach when entitled undergraduates regularly violate traffic regulations because they are inconsiderate, selfish, and feel the rules don't apply to them? This is a Chickering rental.
Many cars heading North and South on Hillsdale are exceeding the 25 MPH speed limit, making it dangerous for pedestrians, bicyclist, and cars backing out of driveways. I'm not sure what the best solution for this is.
2007 Nissan Murano with vehicle plate TK340OOX conducted a right turn at the signal where there was a sign saying "No turn on red" while their signal was red at 10th and union street. We have cars flying down Ruby Ln heading to High Street. Our house is on the corner of Ruby and S. Covenanter and they fly down Ruby Lane and turn having headed into the ditch. My main concern is that cars fly down Ruby Lane and we have several families with small children. On the lower side of Ruby Lane there is no sidewalk and these cars are flying down the road. Their speed would kill a pedestrian or a child playing if they got hit. It would be nice with a sign or a speed bump to slow some of the traffic flying down E. Ruby Lane. We never see police officers patrol our neighborhood...not even when we file a report that we are out of town and would like beefed up security checks. The same culprits drive exceedingly fast down both E. Ruby Lane and E. Southdowns Drive and never get ticketed for speeding. If you want to get extra income for the city...that would be the way to do it. Set up a police officer and catch all the drivers driving too fast down these streets.
I suggest a camera at the corner of High and Maxwell Lane. We live on the dead end of Maxwell Lane and cars run the 4 way stop multiple times a day. It is very dangerous! Cities use cameras so you don't need an officer sitting there all day. It would also be profitable for the city and no one would run that stop sign twice if they received a $100.00 fine in the mail!!!!!!
Lots of deer cross from behind the Hoosier Acres subdivision over Clarizz Blvd to the other side. We have noticed this for years. The students drive very fast, many times blowing through the stop sign at Buick Cadillac and Clarizz Blvd. A deer crossing sign would help people be more aware. Another deer was hit just a few days ago at this same location.
