Retaining wall collapsed, is now blocking sidewalk
This sidewalk is uneven and cracked and makes it impossible to wheel anything on the pavement. The ground is covered in dirt and leaves which makes passage in the rain hazardous. It also floods in the rain.
On the far east end of the brick sidewalk out front, nearly against the retaining wall of 311 E. Cottage Grove and alongside the alley is what remains of what was probably a former street sign pole. It was broken off at some point about 8 inches from the ground. The remaining stump of a steel pole is still there, and it is *VERY* sharp on the tip. It was painted yellow at some point - possibly an attempt to make this hazard visible, but that doesn't help at night. Someone could trip on it, or worse, someone could trip on something else and fall and be impaled on the spike at the top of it. Please remove it ASAP, but whoever removes it needs to understand how to lay bricks because after removal the bricks will need to be relaid and perhaps some will need replacement. Also, no need to replace the sign because there hasn't been one there in a long time and it was ridiculous in the first place to install a sign in a sidewalk where someone could walk right into it in the dark.
Hi there, I am living at 311 E. 10th street and to the east of the house, is a public alley road for cars to drive back to the parking lots behind the houses in that vicinity. Over the past few months, we have seen increase sizes of the existing potholes that were there probably from last winter or just erosion over time. This alley way is a gravel drive so as cars continue to drive on it, the potholes get bigger and deeper. I was seeing if there is a possibility before the winter to get the holes filled in with asphalt or gravel to prevent our sedans from bottoming out and scraping the ground with our cars. I know that this alley road is a popular road for the tenants that live within a few houses of the alley because it is one of the main access points to the parking lot in the back of the houses. I would appreciate if someone could reach out to me to even see if it is possible to accomplish before the first snow fall this year. Rental permit should not be renewed until property owner repairs the sidewalk in front of house. It is highly degraded and dangerous.
