Ugh I’m sorry to have to bother again! I understand there are far more important issues to be tended to but this is just getting ridiculous honestly. Once again I can hear the generator sound running and has officially yet again awaken my kids. My kids have school in the morning and I honestly don’t know what else I can do about this situation. If the electric bill is their issue and the SCCAP office is literally right in walking distance then maybe they should seek assistance to get help paying it. Again I’m very sorry to bother your officers with this issue once again.

The streetlight at the intersection of Woodburn Ave and 15th street is out and has been for several weeks. I have reported this outage several weeks ago since I live at 1020 N Woodburn which is 1/2 block from this light. My house is part of the Maple Heights Neighborhood Association. This area of Woodburn is quite dark. Is there any way that Duke can prioritze the repair of this light? I thought I would ask before I discuss the problem with the HT Hotline, the Mayor's office and Duke. I understand if larger outages would take a larger project, but this is a single light that has up till night be very reliable. Thank you for your efforts to help.

Hi Mayor Hamilton and the city of Bloomington, I am contacting you and your office regarding the problem with the deer in our neighborhood. Once again, the deer are a problem for us and they are outright dangerous. I am not sure what the city is planning on doing with the problem, but I almost feel like I want to hire a sniper (and I am an animal lover) to get them off of our property or now purchase a BB gun. I am not a violent person, but I am at my wits end regarding this issue. Will the city only do something once a deer kills a child? I have heard of stories of dogs being killed by deer as well as homes being trashed by deer who have somehow gotten into somebody's home. The latest is that my wife got a broken ankle because of a deer and it required a trip to the ER at Bloomington hospital along with missed work for both of us. Luckily we have health insurance, but for those who don't...it is a very expensive endeavor that could have been avoided if the city would do something to cull these animals. Lately we have seen a herd of 8 deer roaming around Somax. I would like your opinion on how you plan to fix this problem because I do see this as a problem in our city and especially our neighborhood. Also, I heard that the city has a 2 million dollar surplus this year and wondered if that meant we would finally get the sidewalk and repair of the dangerous culvert that has been promised to the former owners of our house as well as to us. Our taxes go up every year (Judy Sharp just assessed another increas of $50,000 to our home value which raised our taxes again quite drastically). We can't seem to ever get a break from her with her assessments every year and it is quite frustrating. Every year we pay more and more taxes and get absolutely nothing for it. It seems like every other week I'm calling about my waste not being picked up! I pay for this service, let me make sure you read it right, I pay to have my waste picked up. I have called this office four times in the past year for this same problem. MY TRASH IS STILL IN THE CAN AND ITS 3:30 PM

I am emailing on behalf of a fraternity property at Indiana University-Bloomington. Sigma Alpha Epsilon has 6 parking light poles which are not auto-illuminating as they should at night. I've contacted Duke Energy, and I was told to contact the City of Bloomington Utilities as your office would need to initiate some form of a service request to have them turned on. Again, this property is on IU's campus. Therefore, I'm trying to determine who is the proper entity, office and/or person to contact. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

After reading about the variance denied to the property owner, Randy Lloyd, I couldn’t help but think about the current use of the site at or about 113 E Kirkwood. This property sits in an overlay that does not permit surface parking. I can’t find any use in the UDO where parking is allowed when not attached to a structure, and I specifically remember a number of discussions regarding this issue. In particular the Methodist Church’s desire to convert the footprint of the old post office to surface parking. I believe that had to turn it into green space. I also have concerns that this lot is 100% impervious. 20.4.20 I just don’t see how this use satisfies the spirit of the Comprehensive Plan, the existing UDO, or is consistent w previous use determinations. Further, the owner expanded the parking from what was there pre-demolition of the 4th street garage without any public review. Finally, I doubt this parcel meets the requirements of 18.12.10. How would BFD access or service a car fire on this parcel? It’s too narrow to get truck in there and difficult to service from the alley. This use may have been over looked during the demolition and reconstruction of the 4th street garage, even though parking was not really needed downtown during the pandemic, however, it’s time for enforcement against this parcel and other nonconforming uses.

I have read that people are complaining of a strange organic smell from the water, but the water at our office smells strongly of chemicals, enough so that it burns my eyes when using the water. It almost smells like bleach when the water is running and it tastes strongly of chemicals.
