Hello, Monroe Parks & Rec,
This is just an FYI and hopefully an appeal for help. I contacted the sheriff’s office on Sunday, March 29, 2020 and since then the camping site looks to have expanded and the trash in the creek and along the road has increased.
If you begin at the parking lot on Country Club and walk south on the gravel road that runs parallel to the trail, it takes about a 4-5 minute walk south to arrive at the spot. It is past the brush and next to the creek. There is a small orange tent and a large blue/green structure (I didn’t get too close), there is also something large in the creek that looks like bedding.
Thank you for any help! My personal email is <patwooie@yahoo.com>

Blocked Street

Obstruction of sidewalk by protesters. It happens almost every day but especially bad on Thursdays. They intimidate people walking and post horrific images and also park a very large van every day. This needs to stop and reflects horribly on our city to have people out harassing pedestrians all the time.

There a many locations in the neighborhood with shoes hanging from wires. We have attempted to contact the various utility companies, but can be an extensive hassle because they insist on there being an active account at a particular address for them to start a service call. It seems the shoes are mostly hanging from ATT lines, but there are some other communication lines (coaxial cable) and also some electric lines that are being weighed down by shoes. This problem extends at least from 8th to 15th streets, and between Washington and Woodlawn, and is mostly visible in the alleys though some wires passing over streets are also cluttered with shoes. It makes the neighborhood look so trashy. Is this an actual crime? If so, should the police be called if it is witnessed? Would it help if a complete set of locations were sent to some office?
Potholes, Other Street Repair
411 W Howe ST
- Case Date:
- 8/23/2014
The pavement which used to be a through street years ago and is now a city-maintained alley needs to have its potholes filled. The parking lot behind Dr. Linda Figen's office at 413 Howe is owned by Dr. Figen and that lot is adjacent to the southern extent of the alley. It is the alley portion which is city-maintained which needs the attention. Area residents have confirmed with the city that this alley is city maintained when repairs are needed. Several potholes are deep and pose a hazard to vehicles using the alley to access Dr. Figen's business or the parking area for her neighbor to the east.

I was traveling east on 10th St. and got into the right-hand turn lane (with turn signal on) to turn right/south on Smith Road. As I turned right, a car facing north on Smith Road turned left to head west on 10th St. and did not see an oncoming car and the eastbound car on 10th street had to brake quickly to avoid an accident...stopping within a few feet of the turning car.
With the new traffic light at the Post Office intersection on 10th st, GPS is routing more people east/west on 10th street to/from Smith Rd and more locals are also using this route. This is turning an already dangerous intersection more dangerous. Turning left off smith onto 10th street requires timing to avoid a car coming east around the curve on east 10th street...and the same for turning left onto Smith off 10th street. Please consider a stop light at this intersection. Thank You.
