This brand new curb now retains rainwater. Any plans to fix this?
Hi. This is a friendly note to tell you that the new 4th Street Garage has a trash can on the exteror, Southwest corner, that hasn't been emptied since it was first placed there. It's definetely full and is in need of being emptied. I've mentioned this twice to parking garage attendants (via video chat at the exit) but wanted to be sure someone is aware. Thanks very much. I am a resident of B-Linr Heights Apartments and I am disabled as is my daughter and quite a few other residents. We use the bus often and love having a bus stop close to the apartments. The problem though is that the bus stop is not handicap accessible. There is a makeshift ramp of sorts that is basically leftover blacktop that is sort of threw there. I know my daughter and myself usually walk alongside the road, there is a bicycle lane, until we reach a lower part of the sidewalk and there we try to lift our rollators to get on the sidewalk. I know there is an elderly man and woman who also take the bus and use mobility aides as well. It is dangerous to walk up the road but when you cannot use the makeshift ramp to access the sidewalk you are limited as to options. I know a few drivers have let us off the bus down at the green trades district sign that is at the road directly across from the apartments. This has helped as the area there is accessable. I don't know if the stop could possibly be moved down to there or if someone could look into fixing the sidewalk alongside Rogers St to make it more handicap accessible, but I do think many of the residents, not just myself, would be very appreciative of it. Thank you for taking this into consideration. We enjoy where we are and taking the bus, we just want to do so a bit safer. Thank you.
The pedestrian signals at the intersection of W Bloomfield Rd and Landmark Ave traffic light do not work. We have tried all four corners and it never signals for the pedestrian crossing. We have waited through multiple light changes to see if it would work but nothing happens. This is a very busy intersection and as a disabled pedestrian who uses this intersection to board public transit it scares me to say the least.
Multiple street lights are going out/flashing in the location provided. Rogers St between the BLine trail and 8th St has two bad lights. The first is close to the Cook building and the other is closer to the BLine Trail. The BLine Trail has one light that is directly back from the bad light by the Cook building which is by the back end of their parking lot by the trail. 8th and Rogers has a light out on the North West side of the intersection. 8th Street by the BLine trail, alongside the side of the cook building also has a light that is bad. Also, the new parking garage has a light in the top of the stairwell that flashes very brightly and if you are walking along the BLine trail as it passes over 8th Street it startles you and somewhat blinds your sight and I feel this is somewhat unsafe for pedestrians along the trail.
The streets and sidewalks are very dark when the sun goes down. I am requesting street lamps are put in place to protect those walking home from campus or the bars. As the sun sets earlier, many students are leaving class or the library after dark. I also almost hit someone driving home who was crossing the street simply because I could not see them. I believe rates of reported instances would decrease simply due to being aware of our surrounding (people).
Traffic pattern change at 3rd and Mitchell near campus makes turning west onto 3rd street very dangerous. To pull up far enough to see westbound traffic you are looking out the back windows of the car and can't actively be watching for pedestrians walking east. Also, when cars turn east onto 3rd from Mitchell it completely blocks the view of oncoming traffic for those wanting to turn west onto 3rd.
Steel plates to cover sewer repair work done Saturday have moved. The pit is open to traffic. On Hillside, between Lincoln and Grant.
