Sewer Problems (Sanitary Sewers)

2320 E Rock Creek DR

Case Date:
8/27/2023

Since the storm Friday night, our toilets and sink are gurgling and not flushing well. We have a manhole in front of our house and another one next door at the corner of Rock Creek and Montclair. It seems like we have a clog from that storm. The neighbors across the street are having the same issue. Thank you.

Parks & Playgrounds

Case Date:
8/27/2023

The Switchyard Park public restrooms near the splash pool were locked at 8pm Sunday while a 7pm orchestra concert was ongoing. The posted closing time is inconsiderate of the hundreds of music lovers in the concert audience who were not aware of a facilities curfew. The sympathetic parks employee said he was instructed to lock the building. In the interest of respecting anticipated needs of park users for whom the venue was built, please review the reasons for having a restroom lockdown policy during events that are expected to have a large audience.

Leaf Collection

Case Date:
8/27/2023

Fall leaves and the tree seed that falls with the leaves can be used to reforest idle land, no mow zones, and natural areas in Bloomington Parks, other city properties and private properties. This idea can help both the city and private home owners to make a positive use of Fall leaves to complete the urban forest canopy. Mixtures of tree seed and leaves spread in layers on land will produce dense stands of native trees. Please forward this idea to Joanna Sparks, Haskell Smith, Gillian Field, Beth Cote. I am willing to meet with them to discuss the details of how to use Fall leaves and tree seed to expand the urban forest in Bloomington. Thank you, Ray Major Forester Trees From Seed on Facebook

Traffic Suggestions

611 N Fess AVE

Case Date:
8/27/2023

I wanted to propose the addition of a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of N Fess Ave and E 10th St. I live in Collins, and when walking between Hillcrest and the general courtyard buildings there are no immediate crosswalks in the area. The addition of white lines, particularly on the west end of this intersection (where there is already a metal grate where the sidewalk meets the road) would be very helpful for residents of Collins and would make the area safer for pedestrians trying to cross the street.

Excessive Growth

822 E 11th ST

Case Date:
8/27/2023

There are two bushes along N Woodlawn Ave (but one in particular that I am singling out in this complaint) that is growing over onto the sidewalk. It takes up about half the sidewalk and requires people to step onto the road verge when passing another person.

Drainage or Runoff

3020 S Stratford DR

Case Date:
8/28/2023

Dear Madam/Sir, We are writing to report an ongoing and hazardous issue concerning the creek that runs behind our properties (3020 S Stratford Dr and 1920 E Wexlex Rd). After moderate to heavy rainfall, the creek's bank becomes overwhelmed by the increased water flow, resulting in flooding of our yards and water surrounding the residence at 3020 Stratford Dr. Our observations indicate that this flooding is primarily caused by erosion along the creek's eastern basin, located on public land 'above' and 'behind' our properties. The severity of the flooding is evident as approximately 2-3 inches of water accumulates around the house, enters the crawl space, and covers utility equipment such as the electric manhole and bollards. The water takes several hours to recede, during which time the electric manhole remains submerged. We have already notified Duke Energy about this issue, given its potential electrical hazards. As new tenants, we have identified this critical problem that was somehow overlooked by previous residents. While we can only attach a single image to this message and all incidents have taken place at night since our move, we are ready and willing to assist your team in identifying the eroded section of the creek bank, provide on-site explanations and further images if needed. We respectfully request your guidance on addressing this matter and your assistance in coordinating with Duke Energy, if required, to urgently resolve this situation. In case you are unable to reach us at 765-508-9679, please contact our property manager, Ms. Janet Jin (812-325-9093, jcornerstone.mgt@gmail.com), as we may be overseas. Thank you for your immediate attention to this pressing concern. Sincerely, Gergo Szanda

Water Utility Problems

Case Date:
8/28/2023

I heard my sump pump running and went down into my basement to find water had accumulated in the southeast corner. This is in the vicinity where water would be piped into my home. I checked my water heater which is in that area of my basement (installed last December) and it doesn't appear to be leaking. I'm wondering if there's a leak underground somewhere.
