Recycling

Case Date:
8/21/2013

I called a year ago for a recycling bin for my residence at 3607 E. Morningside Dr. After confirming that I own the property and that I do not have any recycling bins, I was told that the bin would be dropped off on my next recycling pick up. It was not. I called again and was told that you were very sorry and it would be there the next week. As most of my neighbors have 2 or 3 recycling bins, I can only assume the address was written down incorrectly. Therefore, I am emailing this request to make sure that the bin comes correctly to 3607 E. Morningside Dr. Thank you, Liz

No problems to report at this time, just thanking the staff that responds to my reports. I'm very impressed on the response times from report to repair and or acknowledgement. It is very encouraging to know that my tax dollars are used in constructive ways. Question: There are times I wish to call in; instead of using the reporting app. Is there a list of #'s for the different departments that could have a list of categories associated with what each one responds to for accurate reporting. ie. When I see a large bag of trash in the middle of the road (be it highway 37 or S. Walnut st.) being run over by multiple vehicles I think about calling utilities, but maybe I should be calling trash collection or police since its a road hazard. Please advice. Thank you Randy Craw

Parks & Rec Programs

Case Date:

I cannot understand how the city council approved so much money for cross country ski trails in Hyland park. I believe it is over 3 million dollars. This is money that could be used for property tax relief. Hyland Park was just beautiful just the way it was.

Parking Meters and Citations

Case Date:
8/22/2013

Not really a problem, but maybe an improvement to a situation. I remember, while visiting Rehobooth, Va. That the parking meters had an available app. that I loaded on to my I phone. I was able to pay my parking meter via a credit card I had registered with a third party through my iPhone. The program even sent me a txt message when the meter timer was running low and asked if I wished to continue billing my credit card. I think Bloomington would benefit by this next step. Thank you. City Construction Projects

Case Date:
8/27/2013

Road construction project on South Rogers St. Particular address 2018 S. Rogers. My elderly aunt (85 yrs old) lives at the back of this driveway. For the second time this summer I have had to complain about her driveway being inaccessible. We can park on the street to visit, but because of her physical condition she cannot walk to the street to our cars. Last Wednesday concrete was poured, a family member talked to someone on the construction crew and was told it couldn't be driven on until Monday. This is Tuesday and the driveway is still inaccessable! How many days is a person expected to stay in their home because of this? I called the Public Works number earlier this summer, unfortunately I don't recall the date, but it was on a Friday and I asked to speak to the person in charge of this project, I was given Justin Wykoff's voice mail. He never returned my call. I called 339-1444 after normal work hours and they also tried to give me Justin's name but I said he never returned my call and it was urgent that we get this driveway accessible so she could leave her home. I was given the Contractor's phone number, I left a message for him, didn't receive a call back so I called him again around 8:30 that evening and he said he would get it fixed on Saturday. It was fixed by 10:30 Saturday morning. I never heard anything from Justin. I called Justin Wykoff again this afternoon and left a message, I have not received a call back. I went by there this evening at 5:30 and took pictures which I am attaching to show the current state of the driveway. We need to get her out of the house, she's elderly but that doesn't mean she should be trapped in her house. It should be a common courtesy if nothing else for Justin to return my call and at least tell me when we can get in her driveway. Would it be better if I just contact the newspaper next time and let them know that city employees and the contractors the city does business with does not care about our elderly citizens being stuck in their homes for more than 7 days because of this construction project? I'm sure there are other elderly people living in the midst of this construction but their homes may be closer to the street or they may not have someone to complain for them. I'm not sure what can be done to avoid this situation during the remainder of this construction, but I think every option should be considered beforehand for the elderly or handicapped citizens. I would like for Justin Wykoff to call me at the above number and explain to me what the delay is in gettin this driveway open and why he has not returned my calls. He could have at least followed up with me on the first complaint to make sure it was resolved.

In space between 124 E. Kirkwood and 110 S. Washington. Can be accessed from Washington St. on north side of 110 S. Washington St. property. There is a gate that is unlocked allowing unrestricted access. During a site visit, I discovered a strong smell of urine in this area. Contractors working on site stated people are sleeping and urinating in the area. Please have owner, Paul Pruitt, place lock on gate.
