Debris Removal (Sand, General Street Debris)

Case Date:
8/7/2023

Ticket #184913 was closed but I’ve have seen the same person(s)thoughout town and other areas on the b-line and seminary park with personal possessions and trash thrown everywhere around their shopping carts they have stolen. Having them leave one area to go to another doesn’t solve the problem. I already assume this ticket will get closed and say “we patrol the b-line and surrounding areas on a daily basis, and if they are doing something illegal they will be asked to leave….etc”. That doesn’t solve the problem…doesn’t even put a band aide on it. Unless real change is made (legistration) and the city follows laws already in place it will just continue! Please have police monitor these areas for theft, public intoxication, harassment, littering, etc…

Leaf Collection

Case Date:
8/27/2023

Fall leaves and the tree seed that falls with the leaves can be used to reforest idle land, no mow zones, and natural areas in Bloomington Parks, other city properties and private properties. This idea can help both the city and private home owners to make a positive use of Fall leaves to complete the urban forest canopy. Mixtures of tree seed and leaves spread in layers on land will produce dense stands of native trees. Please forward this idea to Joanna Sparks, Haskell Smith, Gillian Field, Beth Cote. I am willing to meet with them to discuss the details of how to use Fall leaves and tree seed to expand the urban forest in Bloomington. Thank you, Ray Major Forester Trees From Seed on Facebook

Leaf Collection

I live on Woodstock Place, and several of my neighbors have leaf-blown their leaves into great piles along the street. I'm concerned that the street has been narrowed for traffic and that the leaves will be washed down into the sewers and cause backups. There was a yard sign in the yard nearest High Street about no leaf collection this year, but evidently it has been ignored. Can my neighbors be compelled to mulch or collect their leaves before they turn into a slick mess this winter?

Thank you Mayor Kruzan! I know you are a 'good guy' as you have helped me with a problem before. Please do not allow a low-barrier homeless shelter. And do keep them out of the garages, etc. I truly believe they will return to where they came from without so many amenities in Bloomington.

National Train a Teacher Day is June 18th, 2022 , in the wake of the rash of school shootings it is apparent the need to petition and instruct city or county officials in regard to the duty to regulation of Miltia for the general common defense of the constitutional represented republic. Hi there, I have noticed a large increase in homeless activity in Bloomington this year. In the past, homeless individuals have largely remained in Seminary Park. Now, I see them camped in the park by Hartzell’s on Kirkwood, up by the square further north on Walnut, and even in Bryan Park. Homelessness is a complex problem and individuals in this situation face unfathomable challenges, but many of my peers and I feel their presence in social areas of Bloomington has negatively impacted the safety and cleanliness of the city. Just yesterday, I witnessed a homeless man harass a girl sitting in Brother’s Bar and Grill by slapping the window as if he was slapping her bottom through the window. It made me feel unsafe in my Bloomington home. Similarly, the park near Hartzell’s on Kirkwood is no longer an inviting place to eat ice cream with friends due to the mess left by homeless populations in this area. I am so sorry for their situation and challenges they face, but I do not want the homeless epidemic to impact the value and vibrance of the many lovely green spaces in Bloomington. For these reasons, I wanted to express my concerns about the spread of homelessness in Bloomington this past year and implore you to seek solutions for the issue. I am not an expert in social services or rehabilitation, so I am not sure if there are solutions to this problem, but I hope the city of Bloomington will take my concerns to heart to both help the homeless and improve the safety and well-being of Bloomington. Thank you

When catalent destroys the woodlands to the south to build their new parking lot, please make sure they leave at least some trees standing. We don't need more acres of unshaded baking asphalt

There is a homeless encampment in the woods across the creek immediately behind my home in a residential neighborhood. A matter of feed away from my property. I have sent a letter/email to Mayor and Dep Mayor with no response. As the leaves fall, I will be staring at the encampment and they will be staring right into my home. I have to regularly call the fire dept due to fires at the encampment. I have to listen to them scream, yell and fight. I am also a licensed rehabber and am terribly upset with the way they have ruined the wildlife territory. The woods behind my home is one of the primary reasons that I bought my home almost 10 years ago. I am worried for my children's safety and well being (as well as my own) as the encampment grows. I am devastated that there is now a potential that part of those woods will be removed due to the encampment. There is also a daycare 3 houses from mine as well as several children who I have seen play around the woods and should be able to without fear of an encampment and being hurt. I will happily provide any needed info, picts I have, etc.
