City workers replacing sidewalks on south side of 1st Street between Ballantine and Jordan has started well before 7:00 a.m., estimiate 6:20 a.m. for a couple of days now, violating the city's own noise regulation. It is not intermittent, but rather a cement truck continually backing up.
This specific incident involved a Lime scooter, but I urge you to please ban ALL motorized scooters from Bloomington. My family and I were just coming back from the airport yesterday when we saw a young woman collide head-first into a car in cross-traffic (without a helmet because of course, none of these scooters come with helmets) because her brake stopped working. This was no one's fault but the manufacturers'. But given how much they make, I'm doubtful much will come out of it if she were to take legal action. There have been so many accidents (some fatal, as you know) in so many cities, including ours, due to these companies dumping scooter after scooter onto seemingly every busy sidewalk, and it is completely within your control to ban them here--after all, Indianapolis did. I would like to know your reasons for allowing them to continue to be used in Bloomington when we know how dangerous they have and will continue to be, as long as they are on the streets.. Just how many more accidents must we see and hear about until something concrete is done?
I am a Park and MC-IRIS adopt a Greenspace volunteer. Late afternoon I was volunteering to remove invasive plants in SEP and observed a white male adult driving a gas-powered motorbike at a high speed westbound on the Renwick trail and then driving up into a backyard about three houses south of the Moores Creek Pike parking lot. My park colleague informed me that this is illegal and to submit this as a U-report. This behavior endangers park and trail users.

Hi there, I have noticed a large increase in homeless activity in Bloomington this year. In the past, homeless individuals have largely remained in Seminary Park. Now, I see them camped in the park by Hartzell’s on Kirkwood, up by the square further north on Walnut, and even in Bryan Park. Homelessness is a complex problem and individuals in this situation face unfathomable challenges, but many of my peers and I feel their presence in social areas of Bloomington has negatively impacted the safety and cleanliness of the city. Just yesterday, I witnessed a homeless man harass a girl sitting in Brother’s Bar and Grill by slapping the window as if he was slapping her bottom through the window. It made me feel unsafe in my Bloomington home. Similarly, the park near Hartzell’s on Kirkwood is no longer an inviting place to eat ice cream with friends due to the mess left by homeless populations in this area. I am so sorry for their situation and challenges they face, but I do not want the homeless epidemic to impact the value and vibrance of the many lovely green spaces in Bloomington. For these reasons, I wanted to express my concerns about the spread of homelessness in Bloomington this past year and implore you to seek solutions for the issue. I am not an expert in social services or rehabilitation, so I am not sure if there are solutions to this problem, but I hope the city of Bloomington will take my concerns to heart to both help the homeless and improve the safety and well-being of Bloomington. For the love of god, PLEASE clear all brush, trees, grasses, anything growing into the side path on the west side of Sare Rd and the side walk and side path on the east side of Sare Rd from Moores Pike south to East Rhoher Rd. Both sides need cleared and cut back. Someone came out and cut back ONE bush that was overgrown but the rest of the problems down the path were barely touched and continue to reduce the side path to half it's original width. Same just north of Rogers and Sare traffic circle, on east side of Sare. It's been like that for years with little to no response to ureports or work actually being completed. The stretch north of Rhoher on eastside of Sare needs mowed REGULARLY. It is also severely angled, has rough broken surface and is not safe for anyone using a wheelchair or electric runabout scooter. Please send someone out that can take care of our tax dollar community investments. Thank you.
Thank you Mayor Kruzan! I know you are a 'good guy' as you have helped me with a problem before. Please do not allow a low-barrier homeless shelter. And do keep them out of the garages, etc. I truly believe they will return to where they came from without so many amenities in Bloomington.
I know that city officials, including the mayor and deputy mayor, often appear on WGCL. I hope one day they will ask the host why the station airs Dennis Prager. He is anti transgender people, thinks unvaccinated people are treated worse than people with AIDS, thinks that global warming saves lives and thinks that Democrats want to destroy the country. I would not want to be on the air right after him and I’m surprised the mayor and deputy mayor do.
The city currently has dumb idiots working outside my house at 6 in the morning and it is affecting my sleep, my roommates sleep. It is becoming very annoying and the city of Bloomington better do something about this nonsensical shit.
Mayor Hamilton should resign before he wastes more of the cities money. 800k to plant trees in what the urban forester said is an unjust way. (Environmental justice isn't justice) Over 1000 people said they don't want to be part of Bloomington, and after living here two years I can see why, but mayor Hamilton thinks he knows best and has already filed a lawsuit against the state. I can't find the quote so I'll paraphrase "people are asking what's best for them when they question is really what's best for everyone." That is a truly disgusting thing for any politician to say. Mayor Hamilton doesn't know what's best for me, or my family, and he never will, so don't try to speak for us or tell us what we should be asking. Take the money from the lawsuit, the trees, his own undeserved salary that's 5 times the state average and use that money for infrastructure instead of selling bonds and raising taxes. Instead of 400k to hang skyline obscuring triangles from the new 4th street parking garage, you could have hired actual police officers. Quit giving the university sweetheart deals on property and WATER! Why do I pay so much more than the university for water? They get 9 figure gifts, while I struggle to make 5 figures. Quit wasting our money. Quit trying to exert your power over people. Just quit.
