Today I was driving on Walnut Street headed south around 11:30am. A white City pickup truck was stopped in the road with its hazard lights flashing. The City employee was picking up bags of trash and other junk that some careless person had lost on the road, creating a hazard for traffic and cyclists. This City employee should be thanked or rewarded in some way for going above and beyond. I don't know if he was sent there to get this trash. To me, it looked like he was driving along and saw it and decided to stop and do something about it. He was in a white Ford Super Duty pickup with a lift gate on the back. I think it was truck # 936. This was 11:30am on Saturday, June 4, 2022, on Walnut heading south in the area of about W. Allen Street or so. Please, find this City employee and give him a high five, some extra time off, or whatever you can do to thank him for doing a great job.

my trash, but not my recycling was not collected this morning. Both were out, unobstructed. I assume just oversight. But this creates a problem for me as the recycling bin I have is usually almost full each week.

This morning when I went to bring in my trash and recycling containers I noticed that my trash had not yet been picked up. I do see, however, that all of my neighbors have brought in their containers. I only have about one small grocery bag of trash per week, but it is still in the bottom of my trash can. As I am required to pay for this service weekly, is it possible to have my bill reduced this month as I have not received the service? thank you, Cynthia Ramlo

Dear Madam or Sir, I am writing to complain about two issues: 1) While delivering new garbage and recyclable disposer containers, the truck broke my mailbox. 2) Seems like they delivered a defective recyclable disposer container. One of the wheels fell off. I picked it up and pushed it back in several times. Now, during a pickup - that wheel just disappeared. Perhaps it fell inside the truck. Please help. This morning, my large recycling bin had been shoved through my lawn with such force that it left a 15" gouge. I can't imagine this was done by a person pushing the bin. I believe it was caused by the lifting arm of the truck being used to push the bin across the sidewalk. I witnessed the arm being used in this way a few weeks ago when the same bin was pushed with such force that its wheels snapped off and had to be repaired by the sanitation department. I would like someone to investigate the way the truck arms are being used and train the sanitation crews to avoid damaging property. I would also like someone to patch my lawn.

Illegal dumpers dumped this twin mattress set in the alley adjacent to 1127 W. 6th Street. The dumping appeared during the late morning of Saturday 22nd, May. My neighbor and I both just missed seeing who did it within a 15 minute window. One city truck has passed it without picking it up so far. Please have them return and take care of this. I would have driven it to the city dump if I knew where to take it; and now my car is in shop again so I cannot.

This eyesore was reported twice per cases #178134 & 178189 and this debris has yet to be removed at the dead end of S Basswood Drive toward 3rd St. The second time I reported it, I observed 2 city workers there for about an hour leaning on their pickup truck staring at the debris, but staring at it didn’t remove it. I noted that one person suggested contacting the apartment complex near this area to remove it, but that complex provides dumpsters for their residents to dispose of mattresses during the move out periods. This debris is on city property pure and simple. I guess my next step is to go to the Herald-Times and show them pictures of this eyesore. If those 2 workers would have spent their time removing it instead of resting their arms on the bed of their pickup, it would be gone.
