Wildlife Conflict

Case Date:
5/30/2023

I am concerned about the mowing/bush-hogging on the side of I-69 off of Tapp road and other similar places on the side of highways. It is destruction of wildlife habitat and there is no point to mowing it since nobody ever touches that area. I apologize if I am reaching out to the wrong department. Have a good day!

I am really concerned about the well-being of several cats, particularly their health and safety. Because I am new to the neighborhood, I opted to take my client's dog on a different route than usual. We chose to travel down Indian Creek, and as I was bending the corner to walk down Arrow Ave, I noticed 5+ cats grooming themselves in the street. Thankfully, my client's dog is not reactive to cats, but this might become a serious issue for other dogs/owners if they lose control of their reactive dog. Within 3 minutes, I saw one cat chase another across the street while hissing and began hacking/coughing. Because I previously worked in animal care, I knew this wasn't a "hairball hack," but rather a respiratory infection. After our stroll, I decided to drive down Arrow Ave without my client's dog to get a better look at the cats. When I turned onto Arrow Ave, I noticed a white cat lying down on the street, motionless. I assumed they had been hit and were hurt, if not worse. Thankfully, this was not the case (I hope), and the cat raised its head but made no move to exit the street. As a result, I had to maneuver around the cat. I drove past once and then turned around to see if the same cat was still laying in the street, which it was. And had to yet again drive past it with three more cats sitting on the side of the road, making it a tight squeeze for a vehicle. One of the three cats resembled the one who was hacking/coughing and had their tongue hanging out the side of their mouth. If you want, I can provide you some images and videos. Please email me and I'll get them to you. I was trying to find the address on Google Maps street view. According to Google Maps, an identical chair in the 9-year-old shot still seems to be in the same spot. If it weren't for the moped parked in front along the street, you would assume the property was abandoned.

The deer problem is really bad. When is the city going to do something about this. It's a public health issue with disease transmission, it's a safety issue with traffic and small animals and children and it's not healthy for the deer either. Now we have to also worry about neighbors feeding the deer. Please pass this along so that something effective and humane can be done!

8050 N Old Dutch Church Rd. Ellettsville, IN 47429 Older gentleman living at the house and not able to care for all of the cats. They are all outdoor and somewhat feral. There are at least 3-4 adult sized cats and and at least 5 kittens that are starving and malnourished. Most of the cats and kittens have puss coming out of their eyes and nose and need medical treatment. None of the cats are spayed/neutered so momma cats keep having kittens and the older gentleman at the house cannot properly care for all of them. One of the adult sized cats was recently attacked by a raccoon and did not survive. I am extremely worried for the cats health and well being if they continue to stay there. The older gentleman is ok with the cats being removed from his property. Please send someone to help these cats and kittens. The property has a 2 story house with red colored front and side porches and a detached garage and a camper parked in the gravel driveway.

This neighbor LACKS respect of others in the entire complex. His dog has also approached other neighbors dogs in the complex. This issue needs resolved!

A skunk has been spraying somewhat often the last few weeks and we have seen it in our neighbors yard. We would like to avoid our dogs getting sprayed again this year, are we permitted to trap skunks?

An anonymous person reported a cat stuck in a storm drain at Brookside and Ridgeview on the Lost Pets page. We have encouraged them to report it immediately but I wanted to follow up and report it as well, since the matter appears urgent due to the duration of entrapment and weather conditions. I also thought that this might be a multidisciplinary solution type of situation! Thank you so much.
