Animal Control & Neglected Pets

W 11th St & N Monroe St, Bloomington, IN 47404, USA

Case Date:
11/18/2023

There are two great danes on the loose again. This is happening at least once a week for the past month. One of the dogs is aggressive towards other dogs. It is known in the neighborhood that the owner does not have a properly fenced yard and leaves the dogs outside most of the day.

Over the past few weeks, I've seen a skinny, medium sized dog in the parking lot who is skittish and vanishes into the nearby wooded area. He is warm brown, seems to be a boxer mix possibly. I've seen him a number of times - I'm not sure he's a threat to people because he's so scared, but it is starting to get cold outside.

Wildlife Conflict

retention pond between summit point apartments and Bayberry neighborhood.

Case Date:
6/20/2022

I was walking my dog on the path around the retention pond (off of Azalea Lane, toward the Summit Point Apartments). I noticed a deer following along beside us, watching us. When my dog noticed the deer and went toward her, the deer became aggressive and hooved (for lack of better term) my dog. We began running away from the deer, she followed but stayed in the forest. The deer continued following in the forest until we got to the street in Bayberry.

Hello, My name is Claire Austin and I am creating a speech for Zionsville Community High School about why you should adopt rather than shop. I have a few questions I would appreciate you answering. 1. Why should someone choose to adopt a dog rather than go to a breeder? 2. Have you ever had a time in which the shelter was 100% empty? If so, what happened next? Where there more dogs imported? 3. On average, how many animals are euthanized in your shelter? Is that process painful to the animals? If you could respond to these questions that would be amazing and very helpful for my speech. Thank You!

Animal Control & Neglected Pets

Case Date:
3/30/2018

A neighborhood deer died of natural causes (disease?) this past Monday March 26th on the sidewalk on the side of my house at 425 E Dodds St. We immediately called the city to report it and were told someone could come remove it on Tuesday or Wednesday. We called again Wednesday late afternoon and were told someone would probably come Thursday to remove it. It is now Friday evening, March 30th, and no one has come or contacted me. The deer is now decaying and something is starting to eat it at night. As the Bryan Park neighborhood have homes quite close together, I'm afraid the smell will start to bother the neighbor, and I'm afraid that the dead animal is becoming a health hazard and will spread disease. I was told when I called on Wednesday no one had come to remove it yet because the vehicle that is typically used was out of service, but that it would probably be back in service on Thursday. If the vehicle is not yet back in service, the city should hire a contractor to come remove the deer - I would have done so myself at the beginning of the week if I had known it was going to be left rotting all week. Thanks for your assistance, and for everyone's peace of mind I have not attached a picture.
