We are a landscape company that does work for IU Bloomington and receive parking tickets when we are watering. Is there a parking permit that would benefit us?

Abandoned Vehicle

1701 E 2nd ST

Case Date:

Saturn ( possible auction vehicle ) was dropped in our parking lot at 1701 East Second Street, United Presbyterian Church, several months ago. We put a notice under the windshield twice for the owner to contact the office about the vehicle. No one has contacted us. As the picture illustrates, the car isn't fully in the parking space, causing a hazard when people try to exit our parking lot. We must assume the vehicle is abandoned as no one has moved it in over 3 months and no one will contact us about it. There are numbers on the windshield that might be from an auction.

A trailer for a food truck has been parked on the street most of the time for the past 2-3 months. Is this legal? It's something of an obstacle when a vehicle is parked across from it.

The ‘no parking’ zones were recently repainted for street parking off 8th and Indiana. It seems that the no parking designated zone was extended 3-5 feet. Was there a reason for this? Now, there is even more limited street parking, and it’s going to be a warzone when the rest of the students move in come August.

Some thing is going on over Smith Rd. Travel is very heavy on Heritage Rd . Before, the Heritage Rd is a side street, parking is allowed, even it’s a public street not a public parking area. Now it become a Main Street, park on the side of the street really creates a very dangerous situation. Is possible city can provide a better place for those park on the street to move to? It’s much safe for the rest of the drivers.

Thanks for the reply. I am taking about the situation now. When the time I back up from my driveway to the Heritage, I looked right, left, till no car in sight. I slowly back to the street, immediately a loud squeaky brake behind me. A red car from 3rd street almost hits my car. Of course those cars can park wherever they allowed after the construction done on Smith Rd. But now it’s so dangerous! You should not wait till something terribly happened before taking actions.

Parking Permits

Hi there, I have a question regarding parking options. I am having a roughly fifty-person wedding ceremony/reception on the square on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend (9/1/2019), and many guests are coming from out of town for the low-key evening celebration. I am having a hard time working out parking. I realize street parking will be free that day, but in case it's crowded downtown for the holiday weekend, ideally I'd like for guests to be able to use the Morton parking garage and walk over. But I also don't want them to have to pay for parking themselves. In lieu of my giving each guest cash as they leave to pay for parking, is there any way I can, for example, pay for one-day permits for them ahead of time? I realize this is nonstandard, but I would so appreciate any tips or recommendations you may have. Thank you for your help! Rita
