There is a hole at the base of the fence at Ferguson Dog Park. The picture does not really show how large it is but, my rather large, chubby beagle was able to get out yesterday.
Resident reports that the stop sign is difficult to see while approaching this intersection (Sare Rd/Canada Dr) southbound on Sare Rd, and would suggest putting up a "Stop Sign Ahead" to warn oncoming traffic. Claims to have seen two cars slam on the brakes for this intersection recently, and urges that this issue be solved what with the new students coming in.
Several of the bridges on the trail at RCA park have severe damage. One of them has been broken for weeks, the other has several broken boards and has become unsafe in the last day. There is also a deep pot hole in the asphalt. I am sending pictures of the problems. I greatly appreciate what all of you do! Thank you!
The footbridge at the entrance to the trails is falling apart - it's probably one child jumping on it away from collapsing and causing injury.
Near the intersection of Thornton and Buffstone court ( on the right hand side and near middle of sidewalk is a large hornets nest in the ditch. If you walk on the sidewalk they attract you. Two of my neighbors were stung repeatedly this past week. This is dangerous as if you walk down the sidewalk they attack you. Children use this sidewalk to walk to school
Lower fir tree branches on the inside of the turn obscure traffic approaching the curve. The lower branches should be removed.
There is a pine tree on the corner lot at the northwest corner of Hillside and Woodlawn that is leaning dangerously toward Woodlawn. I drive past it a couple of times a week, and it has worsened significantly in the last few weeks. The rootball is visibly pulling up from the ground. I reported this via the CBU phone number a couple of weeks ago, but nothing has been done yet. I'm concerned the recent freeze and impending thaw will cause the tree to topple. There are 15-20 shopping carts in the Latimer Woods, if you go down the trail you will continue seeing more trash, clothes, and shopping carts. The culvert down at the bottom of this trail is filled with trash as well. It would be fine if these were individuals just setting up a camp for themselves, but they are destroying the property and filling it with just trash. This morning when I was walking out there there was a broken vase that had been put out into the street too
Why do City vehicles park in the bike lane instead of the street? Many times while riding my bike on 7th street this year, I have had to ride around City vehicles parked in and blocking the 7Line because the driver was watering trees or something. Firstly, it's much easier for a car to drive around a truck than for a cyclist going up a steep hill and more vulnerable than drivers to have to ride into oncoming traffic or try to squeeze around an enormous truck. Secondly, this sends the signal that the City prioritizes drivers over cyclists. I should hope that's not actually the case, but it feels like it. Why not park in the car lane? Either side would be by the trees that are in the median between the 7Line and the car lanes, and it wouldn't impact the safety of the City workers. But it does impact the safety of people on bikes, who are already at more risk of injury from crashes.
Is it possible to add some additional picnic tables at Schmalz Farm Park Shelter? There is currently only 1 picnic table.
