I would like to request that the "volunteer" workers that are cutting new trails into a state-designated nature preserve across from my home be stopped immediately. The state designates "nature preserve" land to be preserved for natural ecological functions. It's the highest protection the state can place on natural land. These "volunteers" are cutting new trails which increases the spread of invasive species. The ecological integrity of these precious few acres is already compromised by the proximity to homes and these new and poorly designed trails are adding to the stress and degradation of this natural space. They are using lawn mowers and power tools which disrupt nesting bird habitats. They cut one Asian Honeysuckle allowing several more to take its place. Trash bags with refuse are left for weeks by these volunteers. I understand that the intentions are to remove invasives but what is actually occurring does nothing but spread the same invasives. It is a misguided effort and needs to cease immediately. I have a Master's degree in Park and Public Land Management from IU and have seen this happen numerous times in other locations. In this case it seems that a small group of volunteers desired a walking trail next to their neighborhood and began "volunteering" to create these trails. While not a big deal on private land, these particular lands are designated by the state for the highest protection possible. I would be more than happy to discuss this further and suggest some alternative activities for this group of volunteers. You have my email and I hope we can come to a resolution that will stop the infringement of these state-protected lands. Thank you for your time.

My suggestion is there needs to be railings on these little bridges over the creek in Switchard Park. I can see kids walking on these and failing off of these bridges. Please put up a railing on these before someone gets hurt.

People annoyed with Bryan Park Pool employees. Are they on pool website saying that we can't have pool noodles when the website says we can have noodles? One day people brought a noodle and everything was fine. The next time people was told noodles aren't allowed. People told them the website said noodles were allowed and they said the website is wrong? So whos right? Are pool noodles allowed at bryan park pool?

Visited Bryan Park pool this weekend for first time with my 5 year old. We arrived Sunday afternoon, saw people in the pool, and joined them. Within minutes we had a teenage lifeguard yelling from across the pool to get out in our general direction. I was a little confused, and uncertain who exactly he was yelling out. This continued as he runs around the pool to yell specifically at me. I explained to him that I was unsure why exactly we were being told to get out of the pool when there were other patrons using it. He told us it was adult swim time and children were not allowed in the pool.
After reflection on this I am a little frustrated. There was no signage indicating that children were not allowed in the pool at the time we arrived, and I feel like his response to the situation was completely unnecessary. I would suggest that signs be posted of some sort to indicate when children are not allowed in the pool at the very least. If this is supposed to be some known unwritten rule, I arrived not knowing it and that was not fair.
Thanks for your consideration.

We found another used syringe at the playground next to the swings this afternoon. Luckily, we saw it just before our son stepped on/over it. We disposed of it in the garbage can. Just thought we’d report this issue as we seem to be seeing more of them.

Street Trees

The Madison Park HOA would like to request that this tree, and the nearby tree stump from previously cut tree, are both removed. This is located in between the HOA property and the street, next the southwest building. We had a tree removal contractor assess this area and inform us that the tree is dying and needs to be removed. I believe this is the only tree left in this area, and we have been previously informed that these trees are owned by the City, not the HOA. I am reaching out on the HOA's behalf as their property manager, Mackie Properties. Please feel free to contact me directly via the information I provided, or contact the Mackie office at (812) 287-8036 or [email protected]. Thank you.

There are two dead trees on the north side of the B-Line trail, near lamppost 156 and the intersection with the railroad. It would be good to remove them before they fall on someone.
