There is a rotting deer carcass in the lake, right on the shore near the west north shore trail. I believe it was shot during the annual hunt but it was never collected. My sister is an ecologist and says that it should be removed from the lake to prevent e coli contamination. It is extremely pungent and can be located just by the smell. I have also tied a small green trash bag on a small tree along the trail, just uphill from the carcass.
Ferguson dog park— back fence of the south enclosed area (large dog enclosure) dogs are able to get under the fence at the back of the enclosure.
Bradford pear on the northeast side of the church property that is in the tree platt and listed as a city tree is overgrown and totally surrounds power, cable and phone lines. It needs to be removed. Thanks!!
Last year I was in contact with Lee Huss via uReport about a tree that needed to be planted (to replace one that died and was removed) in the tree plot by the sidewalk outside 715 West 13th Street. He said he would take care of it this spring. I want to make sure I am still on his radar. Thanks.
The grass and weeds have not been cut for several weeks. The trash has been bagged up but not removed. I picked up trash from the playground. some of it had been there for some time. Please pay more attention to this small neighborhood park!
Someone has scattered small, clear gelatinous balls on the ground on the rubber surface near Ford Street by the green curly slides. They may be completely benign—perhaps some type of Halloween candy? But they are unfamiliar to me and, unfortunately, very appealing to my 20 month old grandson. I tried to pick them up to throw them away, but there were too many, and they were spread over a large area. They are soft and squash when walked on.
A branch fell off of a tree onto the fence and basketball court in Broadview Park. Thank you so much!
Coming home from Ivy Tech Community College, where I work as a part-time custodian, on TAPP Road, just past the roundabout, there was a Log approximately 6 inches in cross-section diameter with a spike-like branch approximately 5 inches in length and a couple of smaller pieces of wood. I swerved to avoid contact but the wood hit the bottom and rear of my car hard. I had to hit my passenger front bumper and driver rear bumper back in place. I did this after I pull into the Marathon gas station on the corner of Winslow and Walnut. The time was approximately 2:30 am.
I’ve been using the trails mainly Clear Creek for several years. I’m a bike rider plus walking. The Clear Creek trail seems to be ignored a lot in the last year or so. In the past couple of weeks we have had strong winds, some trees have blown down. The trees were removed in a timely fashion but the small limbs and debris from t/he clean up was left untouched. One area north of That Road and just north of the water fountain gravel and dirt continues to wash out onto the trail but nothing is ever done to resolve the problem. Walking is not as bad as biking but biking can be a real hassle. The trail gets so bad sometimes that I go to Karst Farm even though it’s not as convenient. It seems a lot is being spent to develop the area south of Grimes and Clear Creek gets ignored. I see maintenance workers driving up and down the trail and they even sit and talk a lot but no one ever gets out of the vehicle to improve the trail when only a few minutes could make a big difference. Thanks for your time.
