Street Snow Removal

Grimes & Walnut, Bloomington, IN 47401, USA

Case Date:
2/6/2022

The gas station at the corner of Grimes and Walnut has created a traffic hazard with snow. Their parking lot was plowed out onto Grimes to the south of their property. The snow pile is blocking 50-75% of the eastbound traffic lane on Grimes. You cannot get by on Grimes headed east if there is traffic in the westbound lane of Grimes. Will the City let the gas station and its snow removal service know that turning their private problem (snow on their property) into a public problem (impeding traffic) is unacceptable? They might need to clean it up or be fined, if not both. The snow pile will not melt very quickly. There is a lot of snow they pushed into the road.

Street Snow Removal

717 S Rogers ST

Case Date:

Streets around the old hospital have been neglected in snow plowing. There are elderly residents who live in the area and an ambulance has been called in at least one instance with the snow. Residents would like the streets to be clear of snow.

I do not think the photo uploaded properly on my last submission. It looks like the B-Line Heights Apartment complex pushed snow from its parking lot into the intersection of Rogers and Maker Way. The turn into Maker Way is probably 40-50% blocked by their snow, as you can see in the photo.

Our block was not plowed of snow and salted like the rest of the neighborhood. Our little dead end street is always neglected. Residents would appreciate swift service of fully plowing the block - along with USPS and delivery services!

Street Snow Removal

361 W Smith Ave, Bloomington, IN 47403, USA

Case Date:
2/18/2022

I believe the City has forgotten about W. Smith Ave. between S. Madison and S. Morton. For the past two years the street hasn't been plowed by city trucks after snows, and hasn't been treated for icing (evening of Feb 17, 2022 for example). I have lived in this spot for 20+ years, and feel confident something has changed. I attach a picture showing Smith (to the right) and Morton (forground). You can clearly see the ice treatment on Morton but nothing on Smith. Could I ask you to look into this for us? I am, btw, the president of the HOA whose condos live in this area. We have been paying a private contractor to plow the snow on the street, in addition to our own spaces. The city trucks are far more effective, to be honest. ;-) Thank you.

multiple complaints from hospital staff this morning about the disregard to the snow and ice removal on 1st street directly behind the hospital. many people have traveled in from out of county to work and 1st street was by far the worst road they encountered. our ambulance crew has to use this road to transport patients in as well, and staff have to cross the street to gain access to the building from our parking lots, which results in potential risk for employee injuries.

It's obvious you didn't salt ahead of this storm. The main roads are terrible. You need to get ahead of ice. This is the first time that I've been disappointed in snow removal in Bloomington. Usually, you do a great job.

Street Snow Removal

700-798 South Anita Street

Case Date:
1/13/2018

Since the snow and ice storm yesterday (12 January), Anita Street has not been treated at all -- no plowing, no salt. This is creating unsafe conditions, especially as the snow freezes to rutted ice.
