Residents of 712 W 6th Street have left a sofa, a mattress, and miscellaneous items street side, with sheets of paper indicating that items are "free". They have been outside for over a week, sometimes block the sidewalk, and are accumulating mold and filth. Furthermore, paper stating that the items are free are NOT attached, and essentially litter the sidewalk. The items need to be disposed of properly, and it is my inclination that leaving them for "free" is an attempt around purchasing trash stickers.

Received Email. Here is the text: Hello, We walk our children to school every morning down Hunter Avenue. The house on the northwest corner of Faculty and Hunter have extremely overgrown weeds blocking the entire sidewalk. Exposed garbage, rats and other animals opening bags of garbage at 710 E. Cottage Grove, which is next to a state-licensed day care facility. Also, speeding traffice on E. Cottage Grove, no sidewalk crossing or slow speed or children playing signs at this intersection.

Weeds and overgrown sidewalk area at 1313 W. Woodhill Drive. Old furnace filters sitting near garage all summer. Vacant house. Needs cleaned up.

Someone has dumped an old mattress on the sidewalk/street. This is just the latest event in the severe downgrading of the neighborhood to occur since the city has allowed apartment buildings to be constructed in small residential neighborhoods. I am hoping Bloomington Sanitation can remove this trash.
