The City of Bloomington government has done a horrific job with the B-Line Trail detour due to the trail closure in Switchyard Park. But, the City of Bloomington government has a history of doing a horrific job with all things traffic, roads, and detour related, so I guess in the end: who is surprised? The detour was announced on October 23rd via the Office of the Mayor's Facebook page stating it would last for about 2 weeks. Local news sources reported on that fact as well. Now, 22 days later the trail is still closed. I had to call Parks & Rec to ask, because no updates are available online. I called because I need to get into town but the detour path is not safe. Last time I rode the detour it had a lot of gravel, sand, overgrowth, and other hazards. I do not understand why the City cannot at the least keep people updated on the closure when it goes beyond the stated 2 weeks from the Mayor's office. And, maybe going a step further, clean up the detour path? I know, I know - maintaining a multi-use path would be a lot to ask in this town.

Followup to case# 181838 (I believe there is a problem with distracted driving in Bloomington despite there being a state law about hands-free driving for a few years now. Please inform me what BPD is doing to directly address this danger to the public safety of this city. Thank you. Marnina Patrick) I took Captain Pedigo up on the suggestion to contact the ISP and am now sharing the replies I go: "Thank you for taking the time to send us a note of concern for drivers utilizing celllular devices while driving. We have listed the statue below for your review and will forward you concern to the commander of the bloomington district. If you see a violation, please don’t hesitate to report the driver to your local police/sheriff's office or the closest ISP post." "The bloomington police department is still responsible for traffic infractions even if they have staff shortages. Police departments throughout the nation are experiencing staffing shortages however still continue to serve the public."

Please help me Verify Alpha Books Solutions in the Philippines To whom this may concern, I am JoAnn Johnson currently residing in Florida. I am emailing to see if you could help me verify the business address of whom I am currently dealing with regards to promoting my book. I will have to spend decent amount of money on this endeavor with them and I don't have any problem paying for travel just to visit their physical office. Unfortunately, they discouraged me to visit their office for some reason. They want me to pay through check but to be sent out to a different address not listed as their mailing address on their website. These sort of inconsistencies triggered to me to do extra precaution. After reading about the variance denied to the property owner, Randy Lloyd, I couldn’t help but think about the current use of the site at or about 113 E Kirkwood. This property sits in an overlay that does not permit surface parking. I can’t find any use in the UDO where parking is allowed when not attached to a structure, and I specifically remember a number of discussions regarding this issue. In particular the Methodist Church’s desire to convert the footprint of the old post office to surface parking. I believe that had to turn it into green space. I also have concerns that this lot is 100% impervious. 20.4.20 I just don’t see how this use satisfies the spirit of the Comprehensive Plan, the existing UDO, or is consistent w previous use determinations. Further, the owner expanded the parking from what was there pre-demolition of the 4th street garage without any public review. Finally, I doubt this parcel meets the requirements of 18.12.10. How would BFD access or service a car fire on this parcel? It’s too narrow to get truck in there and difficult to service from the alley. This use may have been over looked during the demolition and reconstruction of the 4th street garage, even though parking was not really needed downtown during the pandemic, however, it’s time for enforcement against this parcel and other nonconforming uses.

Ms. Angust stated the the property owner at 804 W. 7th Street (John Bavender) has placed metal fence post on the property line between his property and the City alley. Ms Angust stated that the post were not installed correctly and that the post lean into the alley, since then he has placed cement blocks around the post that she thinks encroach into the alley

The North/South alley between 810 W. 7th and 804 W. 7th is being encroached upon by gardens, woodpiles, trees/vegetation and possibly the fence and cinder block garage owned by 810 W 7th St. As a result, the alley traffic is being diverted outside of the alley right of way and onto the private property located at 804 W. 7th. This appears to have been going on for a number of years. As the new owner of 804 W. 7th St., it is my full intention to re-claim the property/property line currently being encroached upon and proceed with renovations. I request that the Street Dept contact the owner of 810 W. 7th and order the encroachments be removed. With the assistance of a surveyor, I have located the NW and SW corner pins delineating the right of way and pounded new T posts just outside of the right of way in those spots and plan to post the entire property line once the encroachments are removed. Were I to reclaim the property line today, the alley would become impassible due to said encroachments. I request your assistance in remedying this situation in a civil and legal manner, as requests to the homeowner of 810 W.7th have fallen upon deaf ears. I request that you keep me in the loop regarding this issue. I would be happy to meet with a representative of the street dept, with survey in hand, to assist in clarifying and remedying this issue, as renovations of 804 W. 7th will begin in a few weeks. The corner of Post Rd as you're approaching Staats on the right hand side is so overgrown with trees cars cannot be in the right lane. We walk to school with our daughter and have often had to get out of the way of traffic b/c this road is effectively 1 lane at the moment. 2 homes, the one at the corner of Staats and Post and the one at the corner of post and "Hollywood" both have shrubs/trees that impede traffic/walkers and make it even more dangerous than it should be. If the owners aren't willing to change this landscaping the city should have the ability to cut considering that the shrubs are covering no less than 3 ft into the street. This is dangerous for cars, walkers, and bike riders in the neighborhood. MUST BE ADDRESSED.
