Resident reports excessive trash buildup and trash strewn across properties at Dollar General and CVS Pharmacy off of South Walnut. Resident has contacted both companies and was told to call the Office of the Mayor.
I live at 3500 E Morningside Drive in Bloomington, Indiana. (There are two homes that appear to be at this address. Ours is the light green ranch house with a dark green metal roof.) We have a dark green plastic mailbox by the street. Our mailbox was damaged this morning, 8/9/23, sometime after 6:30am. Our neighbor noticed the damage and notified us this morning at 11:04am. Since today, 8/9/23, is Wednesday, the day that trash and recycling are collected in the Park Ridge neighborhood, we are guessing that the damage was caused accidently by the robotic arm of the sanitation vechicle. We didn't have bins out this morning to empty, but other neighbors did. It was scraped on the top, pushed back and to the side, the plastic on the back was broken, etc. We had a box for the Herald-Times newspaper next to the mailbox which was knocked over during this incident, so my husband removed the post from the ground. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of that. I'm hoping someone would be willing to meet with us to see the damage. If after seeing the damage, they agree this could have been done accidently by the robotic arm of the sanitation vehicle, I'm hoping we could be reimbursed for the damage. After the snowfall a few days ago, our leasing office did not come clean our sidewalks at 729 E. Hunter Avenue. Because of this, the snow has melted and refrozen into an invisible sheet of ice over the red brick sidewalk. This morning as I left my home, I slipped and fell very hard on the sidewalk and bruised my hip. I'm now dealing with pain in my back and hips. My emergency maintenance man has basically blown me off even after stating that I had fallen and gotten hurt, so I am reporting Jeanne Walters Real Estate.

The street sign is missing Post Road. It just has Grandview but not a Post Road sign at that intersection.
(Not really "street repair" but I couldn't find the right category): The eastbound Stop sign on Maxwell @ Highland, in Elm Heights, is OFTEN ignored. I have seen cars race right through it without even the pretense of slowing down. On foot, I have jumped out behind the car as it sped on, waving my hands and shouting "STOP SIGN!!", and once a driver waved an acknowledgment. Another time, driving north on Highland, I turned and followed the offender, honking and blinking my lights hoping s/he would notice that someone had noticed and be alert next time. The Stop sign is quite visible, not obscured by overhanging trees, so I am stumped. But I wonder if it could be moved closer to the road, enlarged, painted (the post too) a more neon/catchy red, and/or moved to the CENTER of the intersection (tricky for the snowplows, I know), and/or a "Stop-sign alert" sign added well before, or maybe it could be removed altogether with appropriate alerts posted for the north/south drivers, which might be safer than assuming people will stop. This is a potentially lethal situation for drivers, bikers, and walkers in a very pedestrian-heavy neighborhood. Thanks.

Resurfacing of Grandview Hills Neighborhood roads took place this year. However, the job looks incomplete. Resurfacing took place on Grandview Drive, Post Road, and Staats.
