An active hornets nest is in a tree hanging directly over the eastbound walking/cycling path on Sheridan Dr. near Bryan Park. It’s on a lower branch that hangs over the path, and it’s perfectly positioned to cause stings on the head/face. We unfortunately found that out the hard way.
I am afraid of this park due to drugs, sleeping people and drinking. It sure sets a bad example for Bloomington as a friendly town.
At 1002 or 1006 E. First not far from Woodlawn. Last Monday the 7th therewas a bigger pile of trash in the driveway/sidewalk. A smaller pile today the 14th, but some at least seems to have been there on the 7th. It might be a rental property. I dont know policy on this, but it seems the rental company should be fined / charged for special collection of improperly left trash. Then they can pass it on to their tenants.
Rather than blowing the dust around this and other Bryan Park playground, perhaps park employees could weed the mulch. I think it looks OK, but a better use of employee time, I think. Or take care of the weeds on the various spruce trees along the paths. That latter item may already be on a regular maintenance calendar, but that too would be more useful than dust blowing.
The pine tree on Sheridan Dr. just east of Manor Road was marked for removal on May 5, 2025. I thought it would be removed within 60 days, yet it is still (barely) standing and leaning heavily. This tree continues to be a significant hazard. Is there anyone who has this scheduled for removal yet? Or was it forgotten about?

Redbud branching low out over the sidewalk. I was expecting it to be bush honeysuckle, but it isn't.
