Street pavement is degrading where it meets sidewalk. I filed a ureport three weeks ago (#202766) and was told it would be patched soon. Other potholes on this block were patched soon after, but this problem area was not addressed and may have been missed.

Hi, Every year our block has 1-3 fawns born and the mother deer are protective for about 3 weeks, and especially aggressive towards dogs. At the very end of the birth cycle last spring 2024, the city put a couple signs up to warn the dog walkers off our block. That would be wonderful to have again this year - our first 2025 fawn must’ve been born today in the backyard of mine (808) or my neighbor’s (810) backyard on S Fess. If we could please have 2 signs for the next month or so to post out front at the ends of the block, that would be very helpful. Some folks know the drill and move back quickly and others take less effective approaches that endanger themselves and their dogs. Thanks! MaryAnn
We have lived on first st since 2020 and our stretch of road (between the stop sign at Woodlawn and the one on Henderson) that our young child has to cross to get to his school bus stop is the only section of first Street residentially that has a big space between stop signs and no speed bumps. Because of this what I've noticed, since the speed bumps east of Woodlawn and first were put in, is people often speed on our stretch of road. There are two other families at our bus stop and they have noticed the same thing and often worry about crossing the street to either get to the park or the bus stop as a result. I believe we also need speed bumps on our stretch of road as it feels like drivers are now compensating and trying to make up for lost time.

On Friday, July 12, a crew from JE Reedy pushed through my double locked gate to clear a path so they could install fiber overhead (in a neighborhood that already has fiber). They seriously cut at least 3 trees: 2 are trees that get no taller than 15 feet, and a pine that was near the pole they needed to climb (Duke has cleared this area for years and never had to hack the pine). They said that they came by on Thursday but they did not leave any notice that they would be working in my backyard so they were trespassing. They could have done their work without destroying my fence row but that would have involved creativity and a little effort. I am sickened, angry and sad and want someone in the City to see this mess and come up with a way to make this right. I have several photos but could only upload one.
Potential fire hazard caused by plant overgrowth. Severely overgrown grass/plants between the public sidewalk and the Henderson Crossing apartments (the building closest to the intersection of Atwater and Henderson). Several are long enough to drape over the sidewalk. There are outdoor AC/condenser units next to the apartment building, but they're almost completely covered by the grass/weeds. Some of the weeds are taller than the condenser units. General recommendation is to keep 1-3 feet of clearance around these units to prevent objects from blocking the intake for these units. Maybe there's some sort of guard preventing the plants from actually blocking the intake, but I couldn't see any - I only knew the units were there because I could hear them, they're almost completely concealed by overgrowth. Trash cans in street
These trash cans have remained this week for weeks. Not clear anyone is living in the house. It’s an eyesore and interferes with those of us who walk along Swain
Please do so to reduce the city deer population. They destroyed my plantings again as they always do. Hundreds of $ at Mays Greenhouse wasted. It’s ridiculous. It’s constant and unrelenting. Maybe they will attack a child or something to gain your attention!!’
