City did an inspection and put the ceiling in bathroom on the list to fix. They never fixed it and the ceiling caved in on me while I was in the shower and a baby raccoon came in on me.

Traffic Signals

Case Date:
11/24/2023

The traffic signal at east 3rd and Smith Rd the south bound side of Smith Rd at east 3rd needs a left turn arrow to help with the flow of traffic. Cars wanting to turn left on 3rd have to wait for on coming traffic. Some cars don't move forward or scoot over to allow other cars to get around them. Sometimes only one or two cars make it through the intersection and during busy times I've seen it back up passed the train underpass and as far as 10th Street. I have reported this before and was told that was a INDOT light and INDOT said it was a city of Bloomington light. I figured whoever paid for the paving and handicap sidewalk improvements on smith road would be responsible for the traffic light. And with all the apartments being built on the east side traffic is only going to get worse. I've lived in park ridge east for 20 years and it has always been a issue. Send someone out and have them stand at the entrance of Park ridge east on morningside and Smith and watch the traffic. A left turn arrow for 8 to 10 seconds would keep the flow of traffic moving better.

Blocked Sidewalk

Case Date:
11/24/2023

A dumpster was blocking a handicap parking space and into the sidewalk on Morton NW corner of 6th. I'm incredibly shocked that was approved especially when there has been those making sure the area is accessible downtown. Since there was a "different direction" in engineering maybe someone can keep an eye on that. Thank you so much. :)

Street & Traffic Signs

Case Date:
11/24/2023

Hello. When I attended the Memorial Day services at Valhalla cemetery in May, I noticed on W. 3rd St., there was no street sign indicating S. Johnson Ave. Since then, my mother passed away in September and is buried at Valhalla. I noticed again there is no street sign on W. 3rd St. indicating S. Johnson Ave. Every time I visit the cemetery traffic is busy and I am trying to turn onto Johnson Ave and I inevitably pass it by and have to make a U-turn and come back around. Would it be possible to have a street sign on W Third St. indicating S. Johnson Ave. installed? Thank you very much.

I live in Downtown Bloomington, and I really appreciate the Kirkwood street closures during the summer! I think they add a lot to the character of Downtown and make pedestrian access much easier. That being said, the t-shaped intersection that is created at Kirkwood and Walnut has become dangerous to pedestrians. Cars are not yielding to the pedestrian walkway, and I've been almost hit by cars that are not paying attention making a left turn while trying to cross the street twice in the last week. I think it would work better for everyone if there were a staggered light so that pedestrians were able to cross when no cars are trying to make a left turn. While that would slow down traffic, it would make things much safer for pedestrians, and I would feel safe walking in my own neighborhood again. Thank you for your consideration!
