I filed a uReport nearly a year ago (in March 2019). The uReport was passd back and forth between city employees, but I have received no information that the uReport was actually read or responded to. The uReport was case #167846. Speeding is still a problem on Maxwell Lane - it's a four-tenths of a mile straightaway with a blind hill in the center.
I've noticed that the uReport system no longer shows the text of the updates made. There are only dates and words like "open" and "assignment" and "closed." Citizens cannot see what the City has said or reported about these uReports. There are no details on who is working on the case, what is being done, etc. Is there a reason why this information has gone away and transparency is now lost?
Signs downtown ask people to go to the city’s website for alternatives to giving money to panhandlers. But several of the links are inoperative. Not really helpful to people looking for options. Thank you
In regards to resolved uReport# 181500: Reply from City: Up until recently, we've been relying on the scooter companies to enforce their users behaviors with illegally parking of the scooters. We have two positions that we are currently hiring for that are funded with fees from the scooter companies that will focus on moving into a system where fines will be issued for improper parking. My reply with two (2) questions: I do not understand Adam Wason's reply in light of what was stated by City Attorney, Mike Rourker, in 2019 (please see below for quote). Additionally, I worked from March 2019 until October 2021 as the main point-of-contact (POC) working with the entities licensed by the City for providing the service and product of motorized scooters, and neither was I informed of any efforts to ticket the companies nor the users of the scooters. Can someone please explain to me what the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for holding the licensed entities accountable for the stipulations in the ordinance governing use and management of the scooters was prior to the recent creation and hiring of a new staff position? Also, why were no violations issued and no fines collected in over three years? Thank you for your time. "At its July 31, 2019 meeting, city attorney Mike Rouker told the city council that scooter companies would be fined if their users violated the parking restrictions. Rouker put it this way: “So just to be clear, at the same time, that Bird or Lime or another scooter company may be taking those additional steps against their own users, the city, if this is an issue, will be fining them every single time we see a parking issue.” Rouker continued, “I suppose if the company wants to move very slowly and pay lots and lots of fines to the city, until we’re fed up enough that we either revoke their license or geo-fence an area, that’s a business decision. But I don’t know if it’s a sound business decision.” For an improperly parked scooter, the fine called for in the city’s ordinance runs $30. The fee connected to impoundment is $100, plus $10 per day storage, and another $150 for disposal. As it turns out, the only payments the scooter companies have had to make to the city of Bloomington are the $10,000 annual licensing fees and the 15 cents a ride. the western end of Morningside Drive--west of Smith Road--has long been unsafe because there are no sidewalks. There are several families with young children, many residents walking dogs and walking to the park, and sidewalks would greatly improve general safety. thanks.
I would like to report unlawful practices, and a violation do ordinance of 20-03. My car was towed, without the requirements being met for a non-consensual towing. I had parked, my with the expectation that it was lawfully parked, as there were no conspicuous signing stating otherwise. I retuned to my car 2 hours later to find that it had been towed by chandler's towing service. According to 4.32.110 of the municipal code "it shall be unlawful for any tow business or tow truck operator to tow a vehicle unless the parking lot in which the vehicle is parked has signage, posted in plain view and visible to the public at each entrance and exit" the parking lot where I had parked did not have any signage indicating that the lot was permit parking only. This code, addresses it's intention, that being the protection of the communities most vulnerable members. following this event I have $60 to live off of for the next two weeks.
The city bus routinely drives through the Fritz Terrace neighborhood too fast. I don’t have a radar gun but the speed limit is 20 and they are obviously going over. On Saturday 5/21 sometime around 3:00 I believe the bus hit and killed a neighbor’s dog near 3131 Valleyview and continued their route. I did not witness the event but was told by a neighbor the bus stopped for a moment at the same location the dog was hit, near the same time, then continued on. I would like the transit department to identify who the driver was and see what the story is on why they did not stop and try to help or identify the owner of the dog, or if I am mistaken and the driver claims it was not them and perhaps maybe they witnessed the event and could provide more details. Even without the issue of who hit the dog, the bus needs to slow down and not exceed the 20 MPH speed limit. There are lots of kids in this neighborhood, the streets are narrow and the curve at the top of the hill is a blind spot for oncoming traffic. Please address this issue before someone gets hurt or killed.
Busses keep stopping here and sit for like an hour. It creates a blind turn where someone could get seriously injured or killed. Please tell busses to not park here.
City busses keep parking here and block a blind turn. They sit there for hours not moving an inch. The dude I saw that was parked there was reading a book in the drivers seat. There is a bus stop up the road. why not park there? Parking at my marked location just created an incredibly dangerous situation where only one car can fit past the bus in a blind turn. Ive almost been hit several times because of people rounding the corner too fast and realizing that there is a bus blocking the two way street. I dont know why but the4y sit there for HOURS. there are definitely safer places to park during their breaks. Please fix this issue, I dont want to have an accident there.
It’s worth talking to the driver of BT bus #1337 route 9L headed west on 3rd at 3:45pm. Their driving was alarmingly aggressive.
